        • Not to be rude or intrusive, but what did you have to shell out for this thing? I know that even the biggest bag of dicks pre-war RR is 30 grand easy!

          • Glad you have a vision for the vehicle and certainly it is your vehicle to do with as you please. Excited to see what it would look like completed. Can't help but see that you would get way more out of it restoring it and selling it for $500k-750k or more.

What form factor or width for the engine are you looking for? Cause I don't imagine the bay is as wide as a lead sled from the 40's or 50's. All of these engine noted above all come with standard"ish" angle of the "V". I know the V10 BMW has 90, the Jag v12 has shallower angle as do all v12 's (Maybe 60 since that is what 12's of the time saw as standard), and the VW's is also 90 but being sleeved (since it has been chambered for cooling the diesel) runs wider then the BMW. Would a 90 degree angled engine work for looks? They tend to be wider but shorter in height. Or is 60 the way to go? With a slimmer width but taller overall hieght. There a few very shallow "V" engines that have a shallow angle (VR6 is the most popular car engine) that tend to operate in the 10.5 to 15 degree neighborhood and the width is closer to an inline (See picture). This list of truly bad ass engines in the world is quite long especially if weird and strange ones are included.

Not trying to break your balls with a million questions. Just VERY interested in the power plant choice and your thought process behind which engines make the cut.

Well luckily, I have limitless opportunity for the powertrain since if it's too wide I can just remove the sides from the bonnet. If its too long, I can just rebuild the frame longer. Although I'd still prefer that it all fit as is, it won't make a difference either way because the frame is being rebuilt regardless.

Unfortantely, to properly rebuild this car it'd cost $50k-75k to do and then be worth anywhere from $100-250k. Now the phantom mk1-3's, I could restore and get $1mil for. This car will be my learning curve into the world of RR and I plan to do a full restoration on a phantom next.

                  • Merc/Jag V12, BMW V10, V8, all would be fantastic in different ways; I'm just voting it gets a manual transmission regardless!

                    • I think even if the engine does fit, you should take the bonnet sides off regardless. I don't see how you could have a sexy v12 and not show it off all the time

I've since found a couple more in the teens to twenties range in about the same condition if you're interested

In all seriousness though, I have to fend off barn finds like this every day. If I had a truck and trailer I'd have a whole warehouse full of stuff like this by now.
