Today I drove south to pick up another motor. Grabbed a b230f LH 2.4. I plan use it for a turbo setup. This isn't going in right away. This will just be something I'm going to build on the side.
Got the timing done, clip back in and car on the ground.
Removed all the internals out of the engine (just a naked block now). Got the line done for the catch can and finishing up the oil lines. Will need to make a fuel line from the regulator to the carb. I need more adel clamps. Lol.
Well I finished boxing up the parts and put the block away.
Finished the fuel line today. Will probably end up changing it (not happy with it). However, it will get the job done for the first start. Finished up the oil lines for the bay and wires. Will do the front lines tomorrow.
Now for the fun... I went ahead and put the driver seat in to check if I would have any issues... Well guess what... I do.. Besides that my fat @$$ can't fit in the car. lol. The seat is touching the tunnel on the right side and my knee about hits the shifter. The seat won't go any further back either. This confirms that I will need new seats that sit lower and will got further back (may not use original mounting points).
As you can tell, I really don't have to reach for the shifter. The type of shifter I'm using doesn't really have huge throws either.
I decided to hook the fogs up and check all the lights. Looks like everything is good. I haven't decided if i'll switch the main lights to HIDS.
Got the car started for the first time tonight. Still have a lot of work ahead, but I'm extremly happy. Thank you again for everyone's help and support on this!
Did some more little things today. Finished getting the mirrrors on the fenders installed.
Worked on doing the brake lines to the MC. Doesn't look pretty, but they should work for now. May get 90 degree fittings and redo them.
The fill plug for the rear diff is rounded off (never checked it when I had the rear end done). So I will order a new rear diff cover from summit that has a fill and drain plug.
I did a little work this evening. Ordered the new diff cover and made sure everything was tight for the rear suspension. The banjo fittings for the rear appear to be leaking. Made sure they were snug. If they keep leaking, won't know what to do.
Temporarily mounted the gauges under the dash. These will eventually be integrated into the center counsel I need to make.
Ordered a rim the other day to see if it would work for my setup. It appears the ford 8.8 rear shafts me again. lol. Don't know what I want to do. Finally find a rim a like, but I need a different offset for the rear. The front has one spacer on it (7.9mm). I really don't want to have a different offset for the rear.
Well I returned the rim. Going to keep on looking.
Well I think I'll need to get another gasket for the exhaust and intake. I have not been happy with the quality of IPDs header and manifold. Constantly modifying it.
Found the source of my rattle. The shifter is hitting the tunnel due to vibration of the engine. Moved the trans a little and that stopped it. However, going to switch to a poly mount.
Installed the powder coated trim around the windscreen.
Well I got the car to idle. Still getting her dialed in, but getting much closer.
Well I put in the new MC and -4 AN (1/4") line. Went to bleed the system and the slave failed. May end up adding spacers to the pivot ball, but will see how the new slave works (the one in the car was bought used). Stock MC for the M46 was 19mm bore and the one I put in was 3/4".
I'll try putting it in the weekend and also ordered a solid trans mount. The one I was using before has the trans moving all over the place at idle. Will be heading south today to pickup a 530 head that's been ported and has a 3 angle valve job. Picked up an RSI Stage 1 cam for it a few weeks ago.
