            • thanks for all the support guys now i don't want to come out and say it for fear of "jinxing" it, but the biggest grassroots car show in IL is going down Aug 6th and I went last year and promised myself my car would attend...so 17 days, not making any promises but keep a close eye on your calender because i really wanna make this happen.

Manu is putting a rush on the wheels i believe, and in the mean time big thanks goes to Brian @ European Auto Source for hooking me up with a sponsorship for the headlights to go inside this bombshell:

*fun fact: 80% of the E36 guys following this thread just decided they don't like it anymore

trust me, im not a fan of these conversions either...unless their done right...and Fluid fabbing the mounts for headlights doesn't hurt either

wish me luck on a journey to do what at this stage seems impossible

                    • Wow! Excellent work man. Props for getting your hands dirty. When I was your age, I would have LOVED for a used Bimmer and would have just stanced it and thrown a system in it.

srsly, props for all the work going into this.

                            • Started with a fiberglass mold of my friends e46 hood to create the nose piece:

                              so then step 2... wait...

yeah i actually ended up throwing everything away except the kidney housing

So next step after the headlights came in was to mock them up...fail.

they sat too far out in front of the bumper, this is what i was worried would happen..so I decided the best solution (since they all were a lot of work) was fabricate my top half to the bumper so it came out far enough to meet up with headlights, in progress:

                              prepped and ready:

                              Glassed:

After that, I attached my new bumper clip, laid filler and it was good to go

next step: the hood. I used that kidney grill housing from above and the headlights to create a mock up, then more glass:

popped that off, trimmed it up, and slapped on some filler:

and this is where i leave you for the day gentlemen, i didn't really want to post this up until i got it a little more cleaned up, but i figured this thread deserved an update, long way to go still, but for the most part all the structural components are done, just need to fabricate the corner pieced for fenders, and clean up the headlight socket and then the major glasswork is over with

ok im done talking, back to the garage

                              • after all of the fiberglassing, bondo, and all of that shit, wont this car weight more and be less safe than what it originally was....?

if i wanted to be unoriginal, i'd own a BMW.
