  • i just joined up to say that this build wil be awesome when your done with it. Always loved the whole touring look. I dnt kno why evr1s ***** on the build coz thers nothing so badly wrong with the car that it cant be fixed. Al it needs is effort ant patience n the body will come together nicely as for power, thats nothing a turbo cant fix. Best of luck with the build guy

          • alright, i can't really keep this under wraps much longer as i have to start on the other side, so because fast five comes out tomorrow (the single most important annual event for any automotive enthusiast) this will give you a rough idea of what the car will look like done..enjoy kids:

part two (i apologize for the sh*tty iphone pics and general lack of pictures, i really haven't had that much time lately so i sorta forgot to keep up with this thread and with pictures):

front bumper needed moar customzzz in all seriousness though, i designed and fabricated this step in about 2 weeks, when painted it flows so well with the factory lines imo bmw should have done it themselves haha, also the cf apr canards (aka $300 carbon fiber triangles) i bought will use this as a mounting point

did i mention i even put carbon fiber in my breakfast cereal? yeah i know played out but i still like it, when fit and finished it will give the "illusion" of a carbon fiber bodykit similar to the asuka e46, but we all know whats up

(^ that was as of last friday, you will notice in many of the other pictures the frills are not yet cut of, also note cf has been sanded down that is why it is matte, after a few more coats of resin and sanding it will be glossy again)

some e36 luvin, did my friend a favor and traded wheels with him as the ones he bought are 18's and don't clear the e36 m3 fenders without a roll so i gave him my 17's

pretty damn good, still needs to be smoothed out, but thats what i call panel fitment, nevermind rear bumper was sawed in 3 peices and put back together to achieve it. (note wheels do not at ALL reach that close to the fenders i stood the wheels near the edge of fender to aid in visualization)

low check..am i still on the right forum...? uhh, yep (0.5in measured and tire rubs on FRAME, no more low from anything short of a tub haha)

50% done with the fabbed div plane mount, needs to be taken down with sanding and glazed

not bad, still VERY early stage of the finishing process but its getting somewhere...and its out of the garage
            .
            .
            .
and what you came here for..
            .
            .
            .
            .
            .
            .

this side is about 80-90% done, needs some more sanding and glazing, but fitment and everything is pretty much down

i got bored of the front end after not even 2 days and ordered lamin-x tints

annyway, long way from done, still have to do the other side, but like i said, can see the light at the end of the tunnel

            • Gotta admit. I lm liking the progress. At first I thought You werent going to follow through with it and do it the right way...You didnt. Im glad to see it coming along. Only one thing I see off the top of my head. The hood gap is still off. Hood needs to be a lil lower to the head lights and grill... but sick progress so far....

                then i was like really?
now im think wow actually looks decent( and this wide body style isnt really my preference) wheels to fit theis will be big $$, also how did you mount the kit to the rear counters?
you going to paint it all white like your sig?

Jacques Cousteau could never get this low

                        • nice man, i'd like to see something go on with those wheels, black face with a machined lip is very played out.

but good job so far, i cant wait to see this done

                          • Yeah the hood wasn't shutting all the way because I need to fab some custom mounts for the hoodpins, right now their not pushing down the hood far enough.

As far as wheels go, I shipped those wheels on there right now off to welcraft to get widened to 18x10 and 18x13 with 3.5 and 6.5 inch lips respectively, but after about a week I got a call back that the safety bead was too close to the lip to widen it, they would've been painted like a pearl grey, so needless to say not sure what to do now I'm prob gonna go ccw but I was hoping you guys could throw some ideas out there....I'd like to stay 18"

                            • ccw's are the way to go^ or possibly check out rotiform, they're doing amazing things over there and apparently they've got great customer service.
