yeah i have no idea what im gonna do for power...lets be honest here though once this thing is done funds will be drained....literally anyway, i'll cross that bridge when i get there

I APOLOGIZE FOR THE CELLPHONE PICS...my dad took my camera up to the race track this afternoon and will be gone the rest of the weekend...

so anyway this makes up about 2-3 good weeks of progress...

started painting the calipers... one look and i dropped them off to be powder coated the next morning...they wont be white...will reveal color when i get them back in about a week...

let me start by saying this was a bitch to do, decided i would make the diffuser functional since for some reason bmw had all the vents filled...

specifically this part, i wish i had a "before" picture, but basically i grafted that right side of the opening for the exhaust about a whole inch or so outward to make room for the goddamn 3.5inch tips on my remus exhaust that won't fit in the stock opening

next came this again wish i had a before pic but you can see the other side laying below it...thats kindof the idea of how it started out..

      as of last night...

and this is where i leave off for tonight...lots of work still ahead but it's coming together

        • to be perfectly honest i don't like anything about this build. i'm not a fan of the platform, i don't like the look, the fitment sucks, and i don't like knockoffs; but all of that is just personal preferance

what i do like is your attitude. just a bit of advice, enlist the help of someone who knows what they're doing whether it be a friend or you have to pay. props for getting your hands dirty but there is some stuff you're just not going to get right on your own without, at the very least, a crash course. good luck to you sir.

I can respect that, yeah i've found help here and there, for the fiberglass a friends dad taught me how to do it on that lip on my bumper, he ended up doing it not the way i suggested we do it and the whole lip was crooked, as someone i think pointed out. Anyway i cut it completly off and redid the whole lip, i'll snap a picture today as i don't think i have one, sits perfectly level now, but i ended up teaching myself how to do everything else with it, like the opening for the exhaust and the vent ducts in the rear bumper, you learn as you go with everything else, i'm fairly confident at this point and should turn out fine.

But yeah as far as improper fitment i believe you are talking about where the fenders join the bumper, and the tip of the fender where it meets the A-pillar, am i correct? Those aren't much of an issue, just a little fiberglass and it'll be all sorted out, im just trying to get the whole kit on first and then solve any fitment issues at the very end.

Thank you for your input sir and good luck on your build,

            Mark

            • there are the obvious issues, but then there are just general details that need to be addressed with nearly all body kits. stuff like evening gaps, smoothing surfaces, etc. from what you've posted it's obvious you're new to body work. that's not a bad thing but if you had someone to walk you through it not only would it come out better but you'd also gain skills. body work isn't real hard; it just requires some experience, attention to detail, and confidence. right now all you have is the latter.

Great attitude mate... When I did my project I had my boys showing me the tricks and trades, but with me I wanted to do it on my own, this way learning made it more fun and challenging. Looking forward in seeing your progress...

                • first priority needs to be fitment.

                  • I honestly think this build is awesome. It's great because it's different. I think widebody looks awesome on this car, and the only reason people on here are criticising is because it's "not the done thing." I say go for it, and good luck to you. It's coming along very nicely considering it's your first attempt. And serious props to you for figuring it all out yourself. And sure the fitment isn't perfect, but I know that eventually you'll get it sorted. Can't wait to see this one finished.

                          • props to the OP for having such a great attitude.

What is important is that he stared a project, and hes looks like hes going to keep working until the project is completed regardless of what others may say or think.

Keep up the great attitude and hard work!!!

                            • wow so where do i begin...its been a while since i posted an update and thats for various reasons but mostly because its more for you guys then me so i kinda wanted to wait a bit to get some interesting bits to make clicking on this worthwhile haha

first came the brakes, calipers were powdercoated candy apple red and i cleaned up my coilovers a bit which are actually seized now in the lowest position...but that comes later

ALL the rust was stripped from the fender wells and then coated with rust inhibiting paint to stop it from ever rusting again

                              initial test fit of rotors:

here is with the fender well coated with underseal, i used truck bedliner as opposed to traditional rubber underseal because i feel it will hold up better in the long run.

worst gap on car now fixed...this was a while ago at a very rough stage i don't have any current photos so your just gonna have to trust me on this one

and thats it for tonight, lots more to post for tomorrow, as for now heres a tease for whats to come...
