Definitely liking the pace of this build. That and many other things.

It's certainly been a careful balance of keeping up the pace while making sure nothing is neglected. Having stripped the whole thing down close to bare chassis it only made sense to take care of the rust spots and then go back over all the interior yellow with black primer. It won't be seen anyway when the trim is back on it, but I'm very detail oriented when it comes to things like that and I'd **** to take apart something on a car that's raw body and see yellow paint underneath every hidden piece.

Started cleaning up the parts of the interior today that don't need to fixed and laid down a coat primer. Mostly everything is rust free, just need to replaces the floors and one small section of the firewall.

Made some progress on the valve cover tonight and started cleaning up the thermostat housing.

Your perseverance is commendable. Half the shit I've seen you start with, let's face it, not the most optimal of tools and facilities, would've made lesser men throw in the towel, but not you. No the adversity just seems to further ignite you. This is looking awesome man and I'm loving the nearly daily updates.

It's fueled by pure passion for the craft good sir. My Mk6 Jetta, I had the motor and tranny ripped out in the parking lot of my apartment last summer for a month working on that thing. Replaced the suspension 6 or 7 times now out there even in sub zero temperatures. Hell, I even vinyl wrapped the whole car twice now out there. You make do with what you have I suppose.

What tools and polishes are you using?

Where do I begin lol

I try to start with 600 grit paper by hand to start cleaning up the aluminum, but the valve cover had a lot of pitting and had to be started at 320 in some areas. If there's a lot of gunk on it, I use the abrasive finishing wheel on the dremel to clean it up before I do any sanding too.

After the 600 grit wet sand finish I move to 1000 wet, 1500 wet, 2000 wet, 2000 dry, then hit it with white diamond polish and blue magic afterwards.

For the really tight spots like around the star and lettering I'll hit it with some more polish with a cloth polishing wheel on the dremel.
