No, it isn't sandblasted, I just cleaned it with water and degreaser but for the really dirty places I had to use thinner.Originally posted by Nixxon View PostDid you have the manifold sandblasted?
Love the Alfa, as for the BMW it looks like a great find, can't see a lot of rust on it for now.
Yeah at first sight the car looks that it doesn't have rust, but there are some places with holes, especially in the front and wheel arches in the rear.
At the rest, thank you for the comments!

YES. So happy to see an e12 build. Almost bought one but couldn't because of some stupid stuff but I guess I'm happy with my e30 haha. Stoked to see where this goes

Bmw e12 520
Hello everybody!
I'm new here, I'm from Belgium and I want to show you my project. But first of all I want you to meet my daily, It's an Alfa Romeo 156 Sportwagon.
It's lowered on FK Highsport coilovers and on 18" wheels.
Some pictures of the beginning, wheels are Toora's, 8J around.

Then I bought new wheels, RH ZW3 9J front, 10J back, the fenders had to be widened also in the rear.

and some quality pictures taken by H.Lorenzo Photography.

So now to the project, it's gonna be a slow project because I don't wanna to do anything rash. I'm not a car mechanic and
and try to do as much as possible just because I like to work on cars and I find it interesting.
Well, it is a BMW E12 520/6 cylinders, first registration was in january 1980, now it has about 166 xxx km.
Plans are actually simple:
- repaint in a BMW colour, first thought is Graphit Metallic
- parts cleaning/detailing
- lowering with airride
- wheels in 16", something with a lip
Some pictures of the E12 when I bought it.

These parts I received from the previous owner

Bought new parts

These are all OEM BMW

It had 2 problems:
- in the front right the brake was stuck
- if I let it idle the engine fell off
Started with the brake calipers in the front, it looked like this

Bought a revision set

Painted the calipers

Mounted the pistons and revision set

Final pictures

Brake calipers would be mounted later on the car.
Now to the second problem, started with take off the carburetor, it's a Solex 4A1
Completely dissambled and then I came out of this

The upper part was warped by to tighten the airfilter too hard
So I bought a second hand carburetor and a revision set for it

After cleaning it completely and mounted everything, it was finished

Also taked off the intake

Cleaned it

Painted

New parts for the intake

Thermostat also taked off

Bolts polished

New cover (painted) and bolt because the old bolt was stucked in the cover

Sensor cleaned

New seal

Painted and all mounted

Parts in the engine bay

Carburetor mounted, do not pay attention to the other dirty parts, these will cleaned and painted also when the engine is out

Now the engine didn't fall out I started to strip the car

I hope you appreciate and like the project!
And sorry for my not perfect english
