Thanks mate, I can't wait to get the s52 in.

A few photos from the picnic.

            • Fuck dude.

The car looks so amazing. Are you coming up to Washington for StanceWars?

              • Started in on the breaking down of the s52. Got the engine harness, and valve cover off.

I'm trying to decide what to do. The spark plugs all looked good except for cylinder number 3, it had lots of oil around it. Looking down the spark plug holes I can see what looks like some pretty good carbon build up on the pistons. There isn't any build up on the back of the valves, and the intake is quite dirty.

I'm not sure if I pull the head and go through it and clean the pistons of carbon, or skip it for now. The engine has 160k.

All the intake ports look like this.

You can kinda see the oil down in cylinder 3, I'll try and get a better photo.

                Valve train looks pretty good.

                • Discovered that my center support bearing is destroyed. Thanks to Ida30 for the temp replacement. I'm going to put that in with the LSD from the e28 here this week. I won't get the swap done till thanks giving break in all likely hood. I will be too busy the rest of this month and don't have the cash flow this month to get everything I need to purchase for it purchased.

Went to some kind of 'car show'. I was the only e30. I hung out with my VW 'friends'.

Got my iS skirt installed on the driver side. I don't have enough clips for the passenger side install yet. I'm liking the new house I live in, much bigger garage. Ignore neglected e21.

My brother is mucho excited about his car. Obligatory pic of seeing it for the first time (he knew we were going to buy it, but I picked it up early) I'll have him join and make a thread, or make one on it's progress. He will have a small budget, but we should be able to do it up right.

Cleaned it and put in my old sport hounds tooth seats, put in some green mtech style door cars I've had hanging around.

Sprayed the rocker panels, added IS weaves I had sitting around, replaced radiator with one that didn't leak. Put on a i lip that Adam sent me ages ago to replace my volvo lip. Removed the roof rack, it was a little loose so it was raping the gutters. Purchased alpine white II paint from the Auto Body supply store today to touch up a different white fender a mate gave me.

                  • Well, some fun stuff happened. I got my center support bearing changed. Although the cheap ÜRO bearing a mate gave me didn't come with the new fittings that go on each side of the bearing, so I just skipped it. I figured I wouldn't be running the m20 too much longer. I was going to put in my LSD but I couldn't get the drive shaft removed from the diff, I stripped the bolts. I won't need either for the swap, so I just put the open diff back in.

Need to remove the cat, I'll do that before the motor swap.

Went on a drive with some friends to a distant mountain town, my engine started making funny sounds. I have no clue what's wrong. I think maybe a valve is way out of adjustment, or a cam lobe is grown down.

This my VW friend Pat looking at the engine giving me the advice of the waitress inside; "Add some oil to that car and it will probably stop sounding so bad".

                    How do my plugs look?

This is the car after 50 miles of twists, and some burn outs.

                    • Pulled the head last night. I adjusted the valves first, but they were pretty much in spec. The bottom end will come out this week. I'm going to open it up out of curiosity.

Thanks mate, I'll figure out what's gone wrong and fix them.

So, I'm going to shave all the shit I don't need out of the bay. I feel like the more I get done, the more I have to do. I'm keeping the AC, and converting to 134a.

                              Motor getting some love.

Traded some OBX headers for some ebay headers. Also got the engine cleaned up, and ready for paint. It's way more work than one would expect.
