While i had the engine and gear box out i decided to give the under body a good cleaning:

Next up was brakes (probably the most sensible mod i have ever done :-D)
I picked up a set of r33 calipers and bought some new discs: I also gave the calipers a lick of paint.

Mounting these, shit got technical. The discs required some machining to get the holes to line up and the brake calipers requires some machining for the way i wanted them to sit on my strut.......

    Thats all for today

So after weeks of nights and weekends of work i was beginning to get fed up with working on the car. ive had a 1jz sitting in my garage for months and wondering even after all this work i dont even know if it runs..... Sometimes i would be chatting to my mates and saying is it worth the work, they would say "not to many people in australia have 1jz cressidas"..

Luckily enough i have some basic machining experience and access to a workshop:
To get the caliper to sit where i wanted it i had to skim them down abit. To me this seemed stronger than making up adapter brackets.

I then tapped (m12 i think) my original cressida spindles to suit the caliper. The hole pitch matched the caliper ones.

I needed to get rid of that big fat auto brake pedal so i could fit a clutch pedal in beside it.. I went to pick a park and took a clutch setup out of corolla and took the brake rubber too:

This was the original clutch pedal position which i needed to move:

Sorry about the shitty photo. Im happy with the positions:

All that measuring work performed with this tape:

So with the engine and gearbox in and the pedals sorted next was:

                  Wiring
                  Clutch Master and braided line
Get analogue speedo to work some how?
                  Tail shaft and Exhaust
                  Intercooler

As i am not in tune with electrics everyone should have a friend who is 1: into cars and 2: and electrical engineer

Ryan started on the chaser wiring loom figuring out what wires were what and then basically removing heaps of stuff i dont need. He done a great job and made one tidy loom:

And according to Ryan all the stuff you dont need (Ryan: "But just keep it incase this does not work"):

I now realise i didn't take enough pictures of the loom. Everything was done neatly, the ECU we screwed up behind the dash. Because the chaser ECU ran a separate ECU for the fuel pump which was probably in a scrap yard in japan Ryan made the fuel pump come on on aux power. We also ran wires for future things like gauges and fan control etc.

                  Next up was clutch:
I ordered a cylinder from ebay which mounted up to the factory holes. I then got this line made at a local shop to run to my slave cylinder.

I then bled the clutch at the slave cylinder and at the same time i flushed and bled the brakes. No nipples were harmed in this process (speaking of nipples)

Nothing makes a build thread like good fab work and a little eye candy at the end

So with the engine snugly in place next thing was intercooler and exhaust set up. I wanted to keep this car streetable so i picked up a toyota landcruiser muffler and some 2.5" piping. I also wanted to keep the exhaust up as high as i could for ground clearance Keep in mind my fabrication skills when it comes to exhausts was very basic:

I then started mounting the intercooler up with some cable ties first until i worked out my bracketry. I used 25mm alloy angle. Then stared cutting some holes for the piping while trying to leave the mounting holes for the headlights:

Now to go for a surf

I want to get the car up to a standard that i'm happy with mechanically and then i might give it a full respray. Id like to do a 2 tone, cream over gold i think.
