Nope, just one single long spring. The E39 Touring's system is kinda similar to the E36s rear suspension, but a bit more retarded...

Most people shy away from swapping the rear springs, but once you've done it and figured out how it works it's a piece of cake, but definitely not something I'd recommend for someone who's inexperienced with wrenching!

You have to drop the exhaust then drop the subframe one side at a time to pull out the springs. If you do that, you can get them out in about 30 minutes per side.

I did spend some time today on primering my front lip.

Also ordered new 3.25 inch lips for the front 10x17s. The old ones have very slight bends which I will have straightened, then I will use them for the rears on the winterwheels.

    Also finally ordered tires!

Sprayed the wheels this morning before I left for work. Pretty satisfied with how they came out. Not perfect, there's one small run on a spoke which I'll have to sand down and polish out, but apart from that they're fine!

Vorallem echt mit jedem Mal ein neues "AHA!"-Erlebnis Hatte ja immer Probleme, dass der Lack nicht richtig gedeckt hat. War ein Anmischfehler...

Just went by the shop again to pull off the tape and just couldn't resist sticking a lip on... looks 100x better in gloss white than in the original flat white I had done originally a few months back.

Oh, and my tires finally came in!

                  So,

got the tires on the rear wheels because I want to do silly stuff with my fenders.

Stuck them on the car with 45mm adapters, so this is 11.25x17 ET -26. I may or may not choose to go with different size adapters. I'll also be dialing in some camber. But first some different springs to get the rear low.

                    • Yup. That was with 45mm adapters.

I did some playing around in the garage just now and I found a setup that I'm happy with.

30mm adapters instead of 45mm adapters, so that gives me a final offset of -11. Should fit without too much hassle. I could have made it work with the 45mm adapters too with some more fender work, but I think the 30mm will work out nicely.
