Do you follow that guy Tom on IG? I can't remember his username but he has an old school Benz that he's putting a 326 Power wing on also.

      • Minor update: Did some DIY work and painted my valve covers, intake manifold plenum & intake using VHT primer, paint & clearcoat. I'm pretty happy with the results, especially compared to how the valve covers and intake manifold plenums looked before. I also installed the oil catch can (not pictured). Buttoning everything back up this week (my roommate who is a Benz tech is doing most of the work, lol) with all new gaskets (intake manifold, valve cover & throttle body). I'm also going to sand the raised letters on the intake & intake manifold plenums to give them a raw/brushed look for a little bit of contrast.

Oh and my front lip/side splitters came in yesterday as well.

Appreciate it! And yeah, it's always a bit odd when I go to a car show and they put me in a class against Chargers, Mustangs, Camaros, etc. My car ends up being the black sheep (no pun intended). Crossfire's are purely European styling if you ask me. The only thing American about these cars is the Chrysler badge and the fact that the interior quality is pretty shitty. They're even built in Germany......lol. But yeah, I don't win many shows (not that I really care that much about winning a plastic trophy anyways) because the car show judges never know what to make of my car. If they put me in the Euro class I'd probably stand a chance, but there isn't much 'Murica to my car so I usually get edged out by cars in my class. Last fall I took 3rd place at Import Expo and that's the only trophy I have to date with this car. A CTS-V & a Mustang - both of which were basically stock save for wheels & suspension - ended up taking 1st & 2nd, lol.

On a side note, I got pretty much everything back together under the hood. Just waiting on my new throttle body gasket to come in today so I can put the throttle body and intake back on and then it'll be good to go. I'll snap some pics this evening once it's all back together. I'll post up a before and after pic as well. The VHT paint really freshened things up.

            • Got everything buttoned up under the hood. Below are some before & after pictures. Also got the Needswings oil catch can mounted too. Only part I have laying around that I still need to install is my OEM SRT-4 boost gauge. Otherwise, the car is ready to head to the bodyshop for it's exterior makeover which will consist of two new (to me) front fenders, a new front lip, new side splitters and a fresh respray of Mercedes-Benz Obsidian Black Metallic. After that my only other plans for this summer are to delete the resonator, which I should've done back when I had my custom axle-back done.

Yeah, I definitely would love to put that money towards headers/downpipes but it is what it is. My new front lip/splitters need to be painted regardless and I'm confident that the shop painting my car this time will knock it out of the park.

                  • Got everything back together and on the ground. Removed the front/side splitters and started mocking up the new front lip/side splitters. I'm going to get the new tires mounted (on my old wheels for now) so I can get the car inspected this week and then drop the car off at the bodyshop on Sunday. Still waiting on my new wheels but they should be here by the end of the month.

Oh and I'm also having a good friend of mine that does sharpie art do his thing on my intake while the car is in the bodyshop.

                    • Dropped the car off at the bodyshop yesterday. I'm feeling really confident this time around because my detailer speaks extremely highly of this painter's work, and he just finished hand fabricating widebody fenders/painted my buddy's S2000 and it looks immaculate in person. Not to mention, I've been friends with the painter since 2008. He spent a great deal of time going over the car with me to ensure we didn't miss any details. Just waiting to hear back from the wheel company to get an update but otherwise I'd say that things seem to be coming along rather nicely for once ::knock on wood:

                        • So quick update. I finally got everything sorted with purchasing my new wheels. I anticipate they'll be here within 3 weeks or so. I went ahead and ordered the new spacers/wheel bolts i'll need for everything to fit properly, and I also caved and bought the European market side markers. Freakin' $220.00 for a four little pieces of plastic! But I figured since the car is being resprayed and i'll have a new front lip/side splitters I may as well get the side markers as the last piece to the puzzle on the exterior of this car.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that everything will be finished in time for Panda Junction on May 1st.

                          • My new wheels are scheduled to arrive on 4/13 and the guy painting my car contacted me the other day to let me know that he is also going to strip the plastidip off my grill and paint it to match the rest of the car at no additional cost. Also, my new wheel bolts/spacers arrived yesterday.
