          Thanks man.

I got some more good news. My buddy that does detailing and paint correction contacted me the other day saying that if I bought the supplies, he'd put in the man hours to wetsand, buff & polish my car to salvage this paint job as much as possible. The cost of the supplies will be much less than paying him to do 20+ hours of clearcoat/paint correction (that's what he said he feels the car needs). Unfortunately the paintjob has some areas that can't be saved so I am still planning to respray the car sometime in the coming months, but this will at least make the car more presentable. The biggest thing he intends to do is get rid of all the white "body shop" gunk that's all over the place, wetsand some of the areas that have bad orange peel & polish the buffing marks/leftover compound residue that the bodyshop left behind. So asides from my buckled fender, the car will actually look somewhat good for the upcoming events (Import Expo & Panda Junction) so i'm pretty happy about that.

Yes sir. It's become a weekly ritual for me. Great turnout usually and it's a super easy drive from my house.

              • Got my fender straightened out a little bit. I won't be putting my new fenders on until I have the car resprayed again. Doesn't look great, but definitely looks better than it did before.

Also bought an AMG oil cap from Germany. It's the little details that count.

                    • Had the car buffed, polished & decontaminated over the weekend. Asides from the fisheyes and the rough edge along the back seam of the hood, it looks much better! I am bringing the car by on Friday for them to finish. They'll be wetsanding my front/rear bumpers & my fenders, along with polishing my headlights/windows. I'll make sure to post some pictures once it's all finished.

                      • After about 20 hours or so of paint correction, I can finally say that my paint doesn't look like total ass anymore. It's not perfect.....there are some things that paint correction & wetsanding simply can't fix (like the fisheyes). But all things considered it looks damn good. The front/rear bumpers, rear wing and several other small areas were wetsanded, the whole car was cut/buff/polished & re-sealed. My detailer also used a solvent to get all the white compound out of all the cracks/crevaces. Buffed/polished my windows, cleaned the hell out of my wheels/tires, etc. It's truly the best the car has ever looked since i've owned it. Honestly making me debate having it resprayed....we'll just have to see if I can live with all the fisheyes or if they'll drive me to wanting to respray it again eventually.

Anywho, I brought the car back from being detailed Friday night and then headed up Saturday morning to Washington DC for Import Expo. This is actually the first indoor event I have ever registered a car in. I didn't even attend indoor events back when I had my old Miata which was way more of a "show car" than my Crossfire. But being as the event was super local to me (less than an hour away) I decided to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised when my name was announced during the awards ceremony. I didn't take home a 1st place award or anything like that, but given all this car has been through this year and the fact that I don't really consider it to be a show car in the least, I was pretty happy to take home an award for "3rd Place - Domestic Other".

I think i'm going to leave the paint as is for a while so I can focus on some other things, asides from maybe having my new fender painted/installed. I have a sweet Canibeat sticker covering the bacon waves at the moment. My next "big purchase" is going to be a PS4....lol. But after that i'm going to buy a Wiecherts Sport front strut bar & some slotted rotors all around.

Onto some pics! This was actually the only picture I have found of my car from the show. Several photographers posted up their coverage on the event page on facebook but sadly my car didn't make the cut in any of them #BlackCarsMatter

And of course the award itself.

Eww, Xbox. Gross. I've always preferred Playstation over Xbox. The only reason I even own a 360 (which is being traded in when I get my PS4...lol) is for the Forza titles. Halo and GOW are cool and all, but ehhh.

                            • Here are a few pictures of my car from Los Goonies x Tuner Evo Panda Junction Fall Edition. Cheers!

Unfortunately you can see just how shoddy my paintjob is, as evidenced by how many rock chips my front bumper has already. Mind you I got the car back from paint back around June. It hasn't even been driven that much since I got it back and the front bumper is already littered with chips.

                              • Went on a big of an ordering spree the last few days. I decided that I wanted to paint my valve covers & intake manifolds using VHT high temp engine enamel. While I was at it I figured I might as well order some of their caliper paint as well. And I figured since I was going to be painting the calipers that I might as well upgrade my brakes, so I ordered some slotted rotors/high performance pads too. Yeah....things escalated kinda quickly....lol.

I'm doing my intake manifolds & valve covers in a metallic silver color and my calipers gloss black. And yes, I bought all the needed stuff for it to come out looking good (prep spray, primer spray & clearcoat spray).

As for the rotors & pads, R1 Concepts was running a hell of a deal (16% off your entire order) so I jumped on that and bought slotted rotors/pads for all four corners.

I'll hopefully have some new pictures to share of the painted engine components/calipers soon.
