Not much of an update but an update none the less.
The car has been sat at a friends house while I sort parts. I've purchased a new shock absorber, coilover sleeves plus inner and outer CV boots. Figured we might as well do them all if we're doing one.
The car is currently at the garage having the welding work done. Before that though, we had to clean it and see just how well it comes up.
Comes up incredibly well and the chrome is almost spotless. I love it! The only downside so far is fuel economy. I'm lucky to get 15mpg around town although it doesn't do many miles.

Time for the first update with the E28.
Collected the BMW today and took it for MOT. It's been stood for quite a few months so we wasn't expecting a pass. I'm pretty happy. It needs a tiny bit of welded on two of the jacking points (Looks as though it's fallen off a widow maker at some point) and a CV gaiter. That's it.
It's done 40 miles with zero issues. It did get a little warm at one point but i'll swap a new thermostat in and see what happens. It was bloody warm today too!
Couple of photos...
A mate is doing the welding next week. First plans are to sort the rust on both wings and get some paint on the front bumper/valance.

Fellow UK 525e owner here.
Looks a very good base for a project, also really like the look of the mk2 there!
Looking forward to see how this ends up.
