Yeah I know that all real wheels are not 3 piece I just like the idea of putting a personal touch into them and feel accomplished by building them, idk

and like I said I'm new to the wheel game... so thanks for the input! Ive been hard at work doing research for the last 4 hours haha

I recommend doing a lot of research on what kind of lips and barrels are easily available on the aftermarket. Different brands use lips with different bolt patterns and internal diameters, and lips / barrels are scarce for some of the rarer and more interesting faces.

Best case scenario: buy a set of 3-pieces that match your width and offset needs from the get-go, and just refinish them. It'll save you a boatload of money, since barrels, lips, and hardware are $$$. If you can't find that, then start looking at options to re-lip or re-barrel or both.

The actual act of building a set of 3-pieces isn't particularly difficult, but it is time-consuming, and potentially very expensive.
I just read that thread you linked. Very very informitive thank you!

So just a little update.... I have a week till I'm home and I start to actually get progress on this build.

So sorry for these stupid posts

But anyways I decided to buy some wheel adapters to try... I don't know how I feel about using them. But if they work then it saves ALOT of work.

They are an inch and a half wide.

Also I'm trying to find coilovers for the rear of the car... I'm going to do a torsion bar delete and put coilover in the rear.

The helper shock that's in the rear is 16in extended and 11in compressed. So far I have come up with two vehicles that match that. 2002-06 Mini and a 1990 CRX.

Anyone have any other suggestions on vehicles I could look into getting coils from?

            So the adapters came in

And since I'm in Florida I gave my brother the task of putting his wheels (18x9.75 et20) on to my car to give a base line of offsets and width. Then ill use willtheyfit.com.

This is what we ended up with.

Now I don't know what to do lol. Either I use Porsche wheels and ditch the adapters OR I make wheels fit and buy some ZG wide universal flares and cut up the car

So for months I went back and forth on if I wanted 18s or 16s. And after seeing what those XXRs looked like on my car I decided on 16s

I looked for a good two hours to find a steel wheel that was 16x10 but the only offset I found was -38. And I don't need those wheels poking 2.5 inches MORE then the test wheels so I settled on 16x8 et20.

I figure I can run these steel wheels for winter while I save up for BBS or something. And then ill have my winter wheels ready for next year.

And only 80 bucks a wheel!

                        FRONT WHEELS ARIVED

My brother picked up the wheels today and sent me this picture. I think they are gonna look awesome.

I also decided that I'm just gonna suck it up and buy the 16x10 et-38 for the rear.

My dad just informed me that he bought a sheer and an English wheel, plus with everything else I have in the garage ill be able to make these wheels fit.

So within a few days of getting home I started tearing into the car. I decided I would null my fenders instead of prepare flares.

So on Monday night we went to my buddy shop and prepared to cut.

We then marked the lines to cut and ill let the pictures do the talking.

We then ended up with this

Yester day I welded in new metal and supported the flare. Bending this metal was so hard because there was so much tension in the metal

So that's where I'm at... instill need to grind and fill in holes with weld to Incan use the least amount of bondo as possible. And that's where these come in.

These are expensive as hell but they work awesome.

so heres a little update. i bought some new wheels.

Me and my brother went to look at them he wanted 400 for all four. turns out they are plasti dipped and they had nails in the tires.

i was able to talk him down to 200 we shook hands and headed home to start cleaning the wheels.

After two days of cleaning im nowhere near done haha here they are at the moment.

my plan is to take them down to bare aluminum and polish them
