    Hi there,

    Feb 2013

Aim: refresh some part, sandblasting and powdercoating (I like it)

Surprise, a lot of hoses under the air filter...

Those are the original ones, and one of the main source of fuel leaks in w108, w109 3.5l

    Marking:

And then replacing all the hoses, and clamps by brand new ones

      March 2013

Some parts are coming back from the powder coating

Since the motor stalls after a few seconds,
I decided to change the fuel filter and injectors hoses since there wer some leaks

      Before:

      After:

It is now slightly better, but the engine sill stalls...

At that time I was thinking on a default of the fuel pump...

      to be continued....

        Some news,
The car had some problems to keep the engine runing, so I decided to change the fuel pump, unfortunately the pump was not the same despite the good ref.

        The old one:

Tries to start the car, the engine was doing well to stall few seconds later

Then I got an illumination... What is the consequence of a blocked the fuel back hose...

I tested the tank return hose, blocked... I tried to unblocked it, and it worked

Now the engine is doing well, but I have a big oil leak somewhere...

          Hi there,

Some news on the Benz, is official name is now "La Grise" (which means "the grey one" in french)

I investigated to find where the oil came from, apparently, it was coming from the gearbox (more precisely from the housing bell), so I was ready to remove it, and change the seals, but from what I found on the web, this gearbox K4A 040 (722 serie) is very strong, and doesn't leak that much,

After putting the car on the lift, I noticed that it was engine oil, and not gearbox oil, so I was thinking of the engine rear seal, but the inside of the housing bell was dry...

So I didn't have the time to investigate more, but apparently, it is a well known problem on the m116 and m117 (v8 small blocks) engines,

If the valve gasket seal is old, the oil leaks at the rear, comes down along the engine, and finishes below the housing bell (lowest point of the engine-gearbox)

          We'll see that this week-end

I had to pay for my mercedes and it had way more rust. I am envious of your score.

Thanks, I must admit I was lucky for that one!

Some news of my oil leak, yesterday I decided to investigate, so I start the car on the lift, to see where the oil comes from...

The problem was there was no oil leaking anymore...

the car was not leaking when I brought it back home two years ago, so I don't know what's going on.

I will continue the work on the car, and do some road tests, to see if it leaks again...

                    Did my first trip today

The aim was to wash the car, unfortunately the thing was out of order...

However the car was doing well, a real boat!

And the song of the v8 is just

I still have some fuel issues, I think there is still some dirty in the tank,
