    Hey guys,

Been browsing these forums for a while but have never posted.
Figured it was time to create a thread of my build.

Found this online while I was at work, called up the seller went to check it out the same night. It was pretty clean and had the lowest kms I could find. Was able to get him down to $1500 from $3200

My first mod that night was to swap the ugly steering wheel with a sportier one I had.

    To This

I ordered some NEX coils as the car was too high and i got a good deal on them

Shortened the front strut housings 1.5” (sorry, no pics of it)

Didn’t order spacers as the tires were hitting the locking collar, so i had to mount some smaller tires to move it around

My dads e32 in the background for a reference of the stock height

Found a lip at the junkers that I could make fit on, and only cost me $10

Was bored on night and modified an e36 strut bar to fit my car that i got for free

Looks like it was made for this car!

Buddy let me test fit his Style 5 on the front... i liked it!

Now that it was dropped abit, I figured I would start on my turbo build since that’s what I really bought the car to do…haha

Started tearing things out of the engine bay to make space and find a way to mount the intercooler and piping

Fog lights were hitting the piping and not allowing the bumper to fit. So i just cut out the mounts.

Searched for manifolds, but couldn’t find much, so I said screw it, I’ll build my own!

Had my "helper" checking to see if it was good enough for him

Painted it with VHT header paint, came out pretty good

Put some new studs and copper lock nuts in

Fits like a glove and cost me under $300!

Used my buddies t3/t4 turbo to take a teaser while i look for a turbo

After a few weeks i was able to find a rebuilt Garrett turbo and got the guy down to $300

Was able to design the piping and get the wastegate a bov plumbed

Started to make the downpipe and exhaust

Well, as i was jacking up the car to put the exhaust on, the passenger side jacking mount when through the floor So i removed the interior and carpet to see how the floors were.

Didn't look that bad....until i started looking at other places and found more holes

Fired up my trusty welder and had some fun with 16 gauge metal.....did i mention how fun it is making a rocker patch with 16 gauge

Got some seam sealer and covered everything

Got some silver paint and freshened up the floors.

In the middle of dealing with that rust, i found a good deal on some rims that i thought would be good for the E32

Got some tires, and mounted them on the car

Finally, the car was looking to be road worthy soon!
Wanted to get some new brakes since the old ones were...well old

Now, that i have the turbo system built and exhaust all done, i needed a tuning system.
Figured i would get the Miller Performance turbo tune (Worst decision ever!)

Got everything running decent enough that i could drive it for the first time!

Managed to get to work safely and in record time

Started to have some fun driving around and chilling with some buddies

Car was running great and had a lot of fun sliding everywhere for..... 2 months

The automatic transmission decided it only had first gear...So time to swap in a manual
        Pedals going in

        Automatic out, manual going in!

Oh, and this was all done on jack stands! haha

Stick shift in, ready to test it out!

Figured it would be a good time to clean the carpets

Also made a gauge holder to go in the shifter area

        Swapped in some black interior

Took it for a much needed bath to celebrate!

Sadly, the stock clutch didn't hold when i got into some decent boost...so i ordered a stage 3 clutch and got a lightened single mass flywheel.

        Flywheel and clutch installed

NOW the car was a blast to drive! but after a while i heard a weird noise from the turbo, brought it to my buddies shop to tear it apart.

Turns out the turbo was on it's way out, found out it wasn't actually rebuilt... just cleaned and repainted

Drove it around for a while until one day i was driving with a buddy and started smelling smoke... yup, fuse box was smoking
Found some burnt wires, fixed some previous owners repairs too!

Then winter came and i was pretty much snowed in everyday

Nice work, you take care of business quickly. I actually really liked the wheels that originally were on your car. New ones aren't really doing it for me to be honest. Regardless, looks like a lot of fun. Keep it up

Fast forward to decent weather, and i was able to find a BNIB 78mm turbonetics for a great price.

Bring her back into work and start putting the new turbo in.

            Installed oil pressure gauge sender

            New 255 fuel pump

Finished with the swap and was running alright.... (did i mention that miller system sucked?)

First vid with new turbo on low boost

Got it idling again so it doesn't stall anymore, had to gas it up for my hard work

Helped my buddy build a turbo e28 and took a mini shoot at work

Remember than tuning system i *****?
Well i ordered something to replace that, DIYPNP megasquirt

Spent a couple hours soldering up everything

Cleaned up the engine harness and extended some wires

Now that i have a decent engine management system, i could have a reliable car again!
Went to montreal for a euro car event with my e28 buddy

Tunnel fun on the way home

One day while driving around with a buddy, hit boost and smoke starts going everywhere
Turns out the oil line had snapped... and the rad also started leaking... first time ever getting towed atleast it's an easy fix

My buddy with the e28 bought an e34 wagon and got coils on that

I was cruising with my buddies right after Christmas and during a nice boosting... the headgasket popped guess 28psi isn't friendly on a stock M30 motor
            Another tow truck picture

            Teardown of the head
            Pulled injectors, found coolant

            Pulled Turbo, found coolant

I did not like cleaning all that out

            And this was the gasket

            Nice and clean!

Tore down the head, replaced seals and guides, lapped valves.

Got it running again just in time for winter
Atleast i can plow out my spot

Over the winter, i sold the rims and was lucky enough to be given another pair of 18's from my dad, however they were curbed and scratched and would need to be redone.
Alot of time and some paint later

            Testing the rears

Now that the weather is becoming warm again, i have decided to redo the bodywork, since most of the paint was cracking (Previous owner got it painted 2 years before i bought it)
            Trunk being sanded

            Here's my "painter"

Trunk painted for now, still deciding on a color

Shaved the stupid antenna that was put in randomly

Started sanding the fender since the corner light didn't fit good... and found this

so i tore the fender to bare metal

Fender fixed, primed and removing wiring/circuits that aren't used anymore

Drivers door down to bare metal

            Primed

Rear door down to bare metal. found some dents that were filled with bondo... banged them out for now.

            Primed

And that is where i am at right now! Hopefully the weather stays good so i can finish up tearing everything down to see what is behind all these layers of bondo and paint

Thanks, i actually saw your thread earlier today and it motivated me to make a build log
The old rims that came with the car were nice, but bent and dented. i was lucky and someone wanted them so it helped for my turbo build
