So I have been wanting to build a drift/ weekend warrior for a while now and had gotten tired of only having my boring X5. So finally I was browsing craigslist one morning and found this M3. Needs a lot of work but I got it for fairly cheap and should keep my busy. Plan is to get it on the road and able to drive it to work occasionally and drive it on the weekends/ drift.
The next day after I brought it home:
First wash and put in some D2 coilovers, not adjusted just picked a height and put them in:
Picked up some style 5 wheels to have a nice set of daily wheels:
Mocked up one wheel and took off the stupid 1 piece headlights:
At this point I decided while I have the front end mostly apart I should do some minor maintenance/ upgrades. So I ordered an aluminum radiator, a 16" electric fan, new thermostat and gaskets so keep her running cool. Also upgraded the intake with a shroud.
Picked up a pair of Corbeau FX1 Pro fixed back seats. Had them mocked up in this picture to take some measurements and see how they look. The original vaders were complete shit so I ended up trading them for a set of LTW wheels and tires, wheels are in bad shape but perfect for sliding.
Made my own seat mounts, came out sweet. They hug the tunnel and have about a half inch from the door panel when closed.
Decided to strip the interior, #becauseracecar and for the fact that it smelt super bad. Ended up finding out that a couple of the floor plugs were loose and water was getting up in the foam = mold. So I am glad I did that.
And this is where I am at for the moment, waiting on parts to come in.
