nope. i'm going to get another on my birthday in about 6 months

and once I purchase it, I intend to never visit a hyundai dealership again.

    • ha damn... well i was set on going the LS route. but i just got a new job and really need a car. I got a steal on a used 3.8 motor so that is going in for the time being.

I couldn't find too many decent LM7 or LQ9s that i felt comfortable with in my area without a rebuild. So i figure i'll start with an LM7 block and build it up slowly. I need the car soon but I also need a lot of time for the LS swap so have a drink for me burning my money LOL. If my block isn't too damaged i may think about building that instead, but tuning is tough and scarce.

h yeah blu, do you have an aftermarket flywheel?

I know on the 2.0t's the oem dual mass flywheel is there not just to keep vibrations inside of the car down, but to keep the crankshaft from vibrating like it's a harmonic balancer. Some guy did a teardown of the engine and found that the stock crank was something like 50 grams heavier on one side than the other or something crazy like that and that it needs to be balanced if you are going with an aftermarket flywheel.
I wonder if it's the same for the 3.8? I also wonder if it's considered a wear item.
I will have the SMF in on the new motor, the old one that was in when the motor went was just the clunky OEM dual mass. We will see if this flywheel makes the motor go BOOM!

      • I actually wanted to trade my e90 in for a Genesis Coupe and I still do! The customer service does sound kind of shitty, but its one of the reasons I wont mod a car still under warranty. Just my .02. That being said Blumagic your car is so god damn hot dude!

I feel you. I thought long and hard about it, went and test drove an E90 M3 and now I have my mind set.
I'm just going to keep the 3.8 in it, straight pipe it, get it tuned, and just enjoy that through my last year of school. After that, its time for what I've always truly wanted. 8000 RPMs of glorious V8.

Good plan! This is a good book, I'm just going to start with a bare block and see if i can pull it off.

                        • That definitely doesn't sound like a Korean built V6 anymore.

                              • Thanks guys! i wish you could hear it in real life, the camera mic just doesn't get all of the tones.

The Ferrari muffler gave it a howl, the closest thing i can relate it to is how the VQ35 has that really nice tone at low RPM I hear when I'm walking in the grocery store parking lot and a G35 drives by. hopefully that makes some sense....

its similar but only at pretty high RPM. I should have done a before and after, the glasspacks + no primary cats sounded awful at mid rpm... pure rasp

                                rebuild my bank account

i'll probably just work on custom stuff I can do until I am back on track. i've been wanting to redo my headlights especially

besides that I just want to finish replacing all of the OEM mounts, I have a couple left on the shifter and all of the differential mounts. control arms after that

new wheels would be nice, but I think if i buy some they are going to be something I really want.

17" TE37V is probably at the top of my list. but at the same time I'd like to try another OEM-to-Something else
