I'm horrible at providing lots of updates to this build. I've been scattered on working on things.

I've got the engine bay about ready for primer/paint. Laid a couple coats of spray filler on it the other day. I've finished shaving and working the handle on the drivers door. Began cleaning up the trunk some and mocking up the layout for the air ride and fuel cell. Plan to do fresh paint on the rear towers and build a false floor for the bottom. Also got some gold trim for my small bumpers. I'll try to post more updates with pictures as I go. I mostly just post pictures on instagram (@deadbuilt_woody) as I'm a pretty busy person and don't frequent forums like I used to.

(hard to notice the gold in pictures)

Got the engine bay painted. Not as perfect as I wanted all the body work, but I'm just ready to focus on other things on the car. Engine bay was making me **** this build.

It seems like pre-facelift A4 door handles would almost suit the square body better. That being said, it's hard to fault the the facelift rounded ones you have on there now.

Yeah, they look good, a lot of mk2 guys run them actually.

I've always liked the cup mirrors for mk2s, and always liked these handles. So they should compliment each other nicely.

Got the motor in. Haven't looked into it much but what crank pulley provides the best clearance, ecs or gruven?

Also made and mocked up a little bracket to hide my coilpack.

Got my rs faces back from being stripped today. I decided to do a full polish on them as I wasn't happy with the chrome powder.

Haven't updated in a while. I try not to mess with the internet too much because I get tired of being told how to build my car, but I do like to share my build from time to time.

I decided to put a cage in the car, so pulled the plug and did that. I also bolted down and setup majority of the trunk setup. I wanted it simple and easy to get to, said screw show car pretty shit, I'll route the wiring and air lines clean once it's finished. It's a trunk, not a Louie Vuitton boutique. And started sanding down everything.

I also just recently made my intercooler piping setup. I wanted everything to be pretty well hid in the bay. I'm happy with how it came out.

And said fuck polishing the rs's. Went with a silver/grey color with a clear w/ gold spec top coat.

I just want this car out on the road next spring. I could care less whos expectations it meets anymore. My first car built from the ground up that should be plenty quick enough to rip around on. Decided to get a hg spacer and run 18psi on the car.

The DeadBuilt Coupe (1985 Jetta Coupe)

Got the body work knocked out with the help of a friend the other night. Just my second car I've ever painted so we'll see how it goes.
