  • Im soaring (pun intended)

Well i bought a Soarer, a 1986 Soarer powered by a 7mgte to be exact. backed up with a auto box and a open diff, it was the prefect base to my new daily.

i added a boost guage to keep an eye on things

this is how it looked when i got it, pretty low on Work CR Kais. measuring 18x8.5 +38 on the front and 18x9.5 +38 on the rear

drove it home and i thought it was great, all factory apart from the lowering, wheels and some aluminum piping for the intercooler. then i got home and realized it didnt make it into my driveway with out doing a 27 point turn on the grass or using my neighbors driveway and going down the footpath. so i went all moneybags (for me at least) and bought some bc coilovers,

final picture at the purchase hight

got the coil overs done semi quickly, 3 were easy and took a total of 45 min, but got stuck on one single bot in the drivers front which took like 5 hours to remove, but finally they were in, with the car raised for drive way accessibility i lowered it to the ground

all i could think was what have i done, i wasnt planning to go this high, so after the suspension settles i will be lowering it a bit.

the old rear suspension, got to love cut springs and blown shocks

and the teins that were in the front.

fell free to say horrible things about me raising a car on stanceworks, but it will be lower once work gets round to giving me a company vechile.

Cool, one of my best mates has 2 of these. One is bog stock, the other is a 2jz with 5 speed box and about 500hp at the wheels. It's fun at all sorts of speeds and angles... Was apparently the only known manual soarer in Australia? Not sure about that but that's why he never sold it when it sat in the rear yard for about 10 years, only recently doing the 2jz and driving it like he should be!

after dailyin this week (500 + kms to and from work) i decided to change a couple of interior things, first i replaced the the rear speaker which were blown. the went about removing the orignal steering wheel, which while cool with controls on it, none of them worked

                        so out with this...

                        and in with this....

this is supposed to be a custom made wheel, for the guy i bought my now long gone celica off, it shiny and red, and nicer than the factory wheel to steer with, but plan to be replacing it with a grip royal or nardi when funds permit.

next to go was the killer factory headdeck
i mean how cool is this from factory

factory tape, cd and aux port, in 1986.... but it was kind rubbish for australia, didnt get any radio stations, and on aux worked properly so in went my old sony head unit, this thing is a slut, this has to be the 7th car its been in

threw in some cup holders and a storage tray while i was at it.

                        next is to take these

and wind them lower, but its to hot atm...
thats all for now, picts will be put up when i lower it more

I **** you for living in a country that has Soarer's. Personally, I like the stock steering wheel, but that's my choice. Sweet digi-dash too, have fun with it.

yea they are still pretty uncommon here, but not enough to have no luck when it comes to parts, im lucky they share heaps with the ma70 supra.
and as much as the stock steering wheel is cool, none of thee buttons worked and i **** wiring so i decided to cut my loses with it, but its chilling in the garage if i ever change my mind.

finally something to update about. moved house and now have a nice double garage to work in, well when flatmates 300zx isn't relaxing in there.
well got a new jack thanks to autobarn, got a better one than the broken one i took back for warranty, so happy with that.

got car in the garage, and had some dinner.

                              got working on lowering it

got it low, too low, so had to have a couple of goes with the front but got it at the hight i wanted

                              also had it tinted,

                              token servo shot

on a side note, we had a rotor Gemini in at work, should be a bit of fun to drive

                              giving it a bath

and then later in the week i bought some 25mm spacers and tried them on

and i bought a spoiler, a factory on, so put it on

thats all for now, going to have to get guard pulled, some skinnier tyres perhaps and see if i can get the spacers and wheels sitting right, but thats for another day
