Work is progressing and we've mounted the rad and a 14'' Kenlowe fan. We're still working our way through the wiring but the end is finally in sight. Once we're ready to fire the engine, we're using Evans waterless coolant, in an effort to maximise cooling and reliability.
We've also opted to fit an ITB kit from Jenvey. We don't want to run the AFM and air box though, so need to find out about running the stock ECU in Alpha-N mode. If anyone can advise, please say hello!

We also found a super rare window louvre. It just needs painting in satin black.

They can look great.

My banded steels arrived yesterday. I just need to clean them up and paint them gold before fitting. They're 8.5 and 9.5J x 16's. I also need to source some centre caps.

Found some pics of an 02 in the same colour I'm doing my e21.

Final under bonnet trinkets are on their way, in the shape of some throttle bodies I've been loaned. They should sound lovely!

It's funny, but here in the UK they're just not very popular. There are a few now, but you'd only ever see one or two at shows. That's beginning to change though, although there aren't many left now and they'll never outnumber e30 or 02's.Originally posted by bimmerspotter View Posti love e21s

The problem with the Alpina style ones, apart from my not being keen on Alpina stuff on non Alpinas, is that they didn't do a RHD one and home made attempts look a bit crap. I got a 3 gauge panel from Ze Germanz though, which should look great. I also have some decent gauges to go in it.Originally posted by quique6 View PostI think in black would look great , maybe u should try and put dark grey . About the gauge u should try to copy the alpina one that goes on the top of the dash it looks amazing!

Thanks for the positive comments guys. They're much appreciated and help keep me motivated.
I am also thinking about fitting Jenvey ITB's. I don't think they make huge power gains, but they look and sound awesome!

Thanks. I think I'm going to try painting the rear spoiler in body colour, just to see what it's like? It might look awful but I know it's a look that worked on the old RS2600 Capri etc. I can easily satin black it if I don't like the look.Originally posted by Mehowski View PostCrickey, this thread is like a wet dream of every BMW fan haha. The ducktail spoiler gets a thumbs up from me, and personally I'd keep it satin black as it makes it look a little more aggressive, but if painting it floats your boat then go for it! Are you planning on making a separate thread for your other projects? I'm keen to see how they turn out and would be happy to see them in this thread too if I'm honset. As for the wheel colour I think gold would be lovely, by far the best option if you're going to change the colour. If not you could make them black to match the ducktail spoiler etc.
Anyway looks amazing so far, looking forward to future updates
I'm unsure whether to paint the banded steels gold, or the alloys? I think I need to play with tyre sizes on the steels, as I don't like too much stretch. A subtle stretch is fine, but 165's on a 9.5'' rim is just too much for me.
I need to decide on carpet colour too. I know black looks good, but a dark grey might be a nicer option? I've also got a 3 gauge panel to fit in the dash for the Stack gauges.
