Like I said on instagram I vote keep the wheels over the project car or go for the wheels you were offered. I love it on the vossens personally but whatever floats your boat you may as well go for!

Definitely know what you mean with the stress thing. I'm a sophomore in college and I am too afraid to turn mine into a full project, as I sort of need it as a daily when I come home. That being said if he is willing to help you reassemble it I'd be sold. Lack of knowledge of VW's won't be too much of an issue, you'd learn a ton in the process, and you'd have a car that'd probably be a lot more fun to drive that your current whip, and you can basically reserve it for just hooning around.

It certainly is tempting. I definitely don't want to end up as one of those people who thinks, "how hard could it be?" and learns that the phrase only applies in Top Gear.

There is a bit of a geographical problem; the car is currently outside Atlanta and I go to school in SC. I would need to keep the car in NC. Somehow, I would have to find my way down to Atlanta to work on the car and bring parts I buy until it can make it back to NC under its own power, unless I can source a car hauler.

For now, until I eliminate the horrific rubbing (the Vossens have brand new tires and I'd rather not destroy them for a week's worth of scene points) or figure out what to do with regard to the Corrado, the Mazda sits like this.

I was, I moved down to pinehurst last August, just haven't changed that.

It definitely is tempting. The owner is willing to help me with reassembly. I had an e28 project my senior year of high school, and that one actually ran but I got too stressed with leaving for college and sold it.

Little bit of an update and what's been going on!

Found out that I was wrong about camber being adjustable. Have sent an email to Dominant Engineering about fabbing up some camber arms specifically for this platform. Also, pulled the fuck out of the fenders.

It left a lot of clearance, as you can see better with stock wheels mounted:



This is what front fitment looked like. Actually was driveable.



Unfortunately, in the rear, the tires themselves tuck into the fenders with no problem. However, way down near the door where the fender roller didn't reach, the lip caught onto the tires and got pulled inside out. I guess I'll just have to Dremel this off and try again?



Last but not least, I have a serious decision to make. Someone has offered to trade me his 2.0 ABA swap turbo'd Corrado G60 for just my Vossens, it's running a Mitsubishi FT04 turbo from a Volvo 850. Needs a little work to be back on the road, he pulled it apart to replace pistons and do head studs, among other things. I don't know that much about Volkswagens honestly, but I miss having a manual/project car so much.

Yeah they are. I'm pretty glad; this car has insanely huge wheel wells.

Thanks y'all. I don't want any crazy stretch. Just found out the rear camber is in fact adjustable from the factory. This should net me another 1.5 degrees or so. Then I have to max the fronts. Once camber is maxed, I will figure out what fender/tire work needs doing.

So.... I sold the Manarays and picked these up. Got a really good deal, hopefully I can make them fit better with more camber and more rear low.

Vossen CV1 20x10.5 +25 all around, 245/35/20 tires. Might need to step down to 225 or 235. What do y'all think?

Little bit more lows with the 18s and youre good. I second the refinishing on the wheels. All silver with a polished lip would make them look at home on the car.
