I decided to just take the rear bump stops off the car.

When I had the suspension at ride height, I noticed that the sway bar was hitting this brake line.

I removed the clamp and bent the line up above the axle. I did not see anything that it would be in the way of.

I got back over to my friends house and mig welded the torque rods. Still not pretty welds, but I am going to run them. You will notice that I also drilled a hole and plug welded the tube adapter. The threads on the double adjuster are 5/8-18. You will also notice the new bushings. Now my torque rods and panhard rod are adjustable with out removing them.

    Shine it!

I usually like patina on older unusual cars, but whenever I see an old volvo like this on the road, the paint is usually faded like this.

Thanks. I am not sure yet if I want to try to "shine" the paint up or leave it as is. At the moment I am leaning towards leaving it.

I got the torque arms off today. Do you think I should replace the bushings?

I cut the arms so I could get measurements to order parts.

I was back over at my friends house and we were messing with the welder again. For the life of us neither of us could make a clean pass. We started looking at the welder and gas, only to find that the cables inside the welder were on the wrong polarity! We switched them and had much more success. So hopefully when parts come in we can weld these arms up properly.

At least the Volvo is currently a good drink holder.

I still have a lot of work to do before it is drivable. I also will not have much to compare it to. I might have drove the car 3 miles before tearing it apart, and that was at stock ride height with a completely blown suspension. Next time I drive it, it will be lowered with a brand new suspension.

Tiny update. I got the adjustable panhard rod installed. My friend ended up cutting out my welds and TIG welding it for me. Better safe than sorry.

A couple crappy pics taken while laying in the snow. I wanted to get the torque rods off so I could start modifying those but it was too friggin cold. Maybe this weekend.

No pictures with this update, mainly because it would be embarrassing. I cut 100mm out of the panhard rod. If my calculations are correct this will center the axle and allow the rod to be adjusted 30mm shorter and about 15mm longer.

I welded the other tube adapter on and it turned out worse than the first one. I did not grind it down and showed a co-worker. He agreed that it was bad. He took both ends of the rod home and is going to cut out my weld and tig weld it. It is humbling but I will keep practicing and move on.
