I cut three inches from front strut housing and had them welded. The rears are just brand new stock struts with a-1 racing coilover sleeves, and iPD springs. I can go VERY low with this setup, threaded to the top I have 1 inch oilpan clearance. And the ride quality is perfect.

      • I was looking into doing this a while back but never looked at pricing. It seemed like the best way to go. Are they MR2 front inserts?

          • Is there a reason why you used the A1 Racing top hat instead of the stock? I wanna know if i can get away with using oem hardware to mount.

My top hats were bent when I pulled them out, so I just ordered replacement ones. Also I was using a shorter spring and wanted to compensate for the height so I opted for conical ones instead of flat. You could prob get away with it if they are in good condition otherwise I played it safe and replaced.

              • So small update today. Decided to do a wooden trunk, threw around the ideal a couple of times and decided to pull the trigger. Here are some pics.

Going to pick up some crown molding to finish the sides.

I thinking about doing a DIY on this as well as on the coilovers i did, since either no one wants to share their secrets or no information is out there.

                              • So today i went out to take some measurements for the Ordens because soon i will be ordering new lips and barrels. It looks like i will need a 15mm adapter in the front to clear coilovers. And also smaller inner barrels. Rears fit snug. Still debating if i should gold plate faces, or fully polish with color matched bolts.
