Decided I'm pulling the car apart as soon as tax returns get here. The whole drivetrain is coming out and getting swapped into my 1980 pinto. The only real reason is because the pinto can be a fast v8 street car, where as the subaru is "track only". The pinto will be faster in a straight line, and I may try to add steering angle and make it still able to slide around.

Forgot to update, the outback is running again! Now with 4 more cylinders! Brought it to it's first event at clubloose north and aside from an overheating issue due to an underdrive water pump pulley it went great. Spins tire in 3rd without a clutch kick, so I'm pretty pumped. Here's some pictures from the event.










Before the next event I need to get my aluminum radiator soldered so I can install it, there's a pinhole in one of the tubes. I was using the stock mustang radiator but that didn't do the trick. Also gonna do head gaskets just to rule out the possibility, and to clean up the motor. I also need to reinforce the upper shock crossmember. I'm actually running dual shocks, two in the control arms and two on the axle. Seems to work pretty well to control wheel hop, and once I reinforce/replace that crossmember it will feel much better. Overall i'm super happy with it. I need a bit more steering angle, and I want to switch to disc brake rear at some point so I can run dual calipers.

I have one of those. They may be entertaining within the compacted snow but don't have any energy, specifically with the pounds from the wagon chassis. Is this kind of proceeding to be a day-to-day? All the best with the develop.

r160 is gone, finished installing the mustang rear end, it starts and runs perfectly, cooling system is finished so all that's left is driveshaft, rear brake lines, seats, and to mount the fuel cell and battery and it's finished. So excited, gonna be sliding it at a 4th of july event

Oh nice. Is there a reason you didn't throw on an ej257 bottom end and run a piggyback on the ej251 ecu? It seems like it would be less of a hassle, but not as unique.

I can't wait till that r 160 is out of thar.

Heh, yeah I remember when that went around. Thankfully I didn't sell it. Progress continues on the swap, all that's left is a driveshaft, fuel, and wiring and she's ready to rock n' roll. I'll take some pictures soon.

So yeah, this is happening. Transmission mount is already made. New firewall is 3/4 done, just need to do motor mounts, wiring, and a fuel cell. Then i need to fab mounts for the 8.8 and it's done!

We just picked up a really clean 1990 volvo 240 sedan, auto as my girlfriend's next wheels. Her low 'n slow subie (which we brought back up to stock height last winter) developed a nasty rod knock, so we shipped it up the river and got a vulva! Going for classy, low euro.
