How to ruin a Classic Benz...

Well to start It's a 1975 Mercedes 240D.... So I bought this headache about 3 weeks ago and its been just that.... A headache. Every time i touch it something else breaks!! Problem is I'm hard headed and refuse to be beat by a car so here's what I have done so far.. Basically rebuild the brakes, replace some interior parts and slowly as I find time start working on getting it closer to the ground..


I didn't take pic's when I bought it but it was on this lift within it's first day of purchase.

Old car ownership sucks as of right now Haha.. Just replacing parts I'm at almost double the price of purchase at this point.

Remember this. "There's nothing more expensive then a cheap Mercedes" With that being said I'm on my fourth W123. I paid the most for this one out of all of them by 10x, and it returned the favor by telling me it was transmission rebuild time. It sucks in the beginning, but you'll get used to it.

I made the front sit a bit lower.. Tomorrow is another day though..

Old cars...

I had to replace my transmission last month and now the replacement is leaking. It likes to leak other fluids like engine oil and fuel sometimes too. Good times!

You'll end up knowing every nut and bolt on the car. And if youre anything like me, you will be half afraid to drive it because you have no confidence in your own ability fix things hahah

Looking good man...mechanical stuff can be fixed more easily than a super rusty chassis. Once you'll be cruising its gonna be worth it!!

The body is straight but does have some rust on the lower rear quarters and the paint is oxidized to shit. It should polish up pretty good though.

Thanks for the advice. I guess its normal with these cars but i keep going back and forth between really fucking disliking it and the urge to keep working on it. Love your car btw. Obviously its one of my inspirations!!

Heres some progress from this afternoon... The muscle car rake is gone and i actually drove it home today!!!! I also finished up installing new rear calipers and lines and bled the brakes so now it stops when i want it to...This is the only photo i took on my cell. I do have a DSLR that ill take some better shots with soon. You can see the rust on the quarter. Its the worst spot on the car which i plan to address soon.
