  • The Integra GSR Sedan from 1994

Figured I'd start a build thread.

    Started off with this...

    Was static for a while...

Then bit the bullet and went with Air Lift from Bag Riders...

Had this set of RS' for over a year and a half that I want to refurb. (RS239's 16x7 et37 4x114.3) I've got 4x 1.5" lips that I want to rebuild them with but haven't gotten around to doing so. Previous owner of the BBS' used a shit ton of RTV and removing it is a nightmare. Anyone have any tips? Is there a chemical I can use that will eat it away or something?

Looking to get it to air out as low as possible. The direction I want to take it in is a clean, simple, VIP inspired, OEM+ style.

I'm in no rush though, It's still got a long way to go.

        Thanks gents.

And yes, perfect for all occasions. it's easier to get my son in/out of his car seat in the sedan vs when I had a two door integra.

If the RTV is anything like red loctite, I had to buy a propane torch and putting it on the bolt/area for a few seconds melted the sealant. It would start smoking as soon as it melted and then the bolts broke free.

use a wire brush attached to an air tool or electric grinder

You never see GS-R sedans anymore, let alone bagged ones. Please keep us updated!

I'll have to try that. Thanks for the tip.

That's the pain staking process I've used so far. Went through two batteries on my Bosch cordless with a wire brush just to get 90% of a single wheel. Might have to mount a two front attack with the bosch's two batteries and my air compressor. Blitzkrieg on the RTV!

I actually tried that last weekend. I think the beefy tube arms of my Hard Race upper control arms are making contact elsewhere than the normal area. Might have to get surgical and start cutting other places. I found a place called ASC Speed Metal fabricates custom drop forks... Similar to Suspension Techniques when they use to make them. But they're like $500 a set. Decisions decisions...

if you have a compressor and an air grinder, use a brass cup..

or an angle grinder with a wire up.. that will take it off no problem.. a drill won't work hard enough for you.

Steal some your sons PlayDoh and put it on the top of the control arm, then lower and see where you are hitting. Watch the end of the balljoint on the upper arm as well, it most likely is there.

Yeah use anything high speed with a wire attachment, I use a bench grinder at work for smaller bits and for big stuff I use this but the bigger version. It's some generic yellow one called the "yellow jacket". Can't find anything on it but it's lasted forever. Just get a harbor freight one. The small ones are for grinding small things and cutting.

So I had a bit of time to work on the teg today. I grabbed a can of my son's play doh (Thanks scotto, genius idea!) And as I jacked up the car to get started I noticed where I'm hitting.

I don't know how I can go about cutting those areas without messing with the structural integrity of the shock tower...
I might try go back to my OEM UCA or adjustable OEM style to get a bit lower.

With the Hard Race's it doesn't hit where the usual cut out takes place:

I actually have that, and used it today with a sanding flapper disc on the RS' I really need to get the bit that C.Johnston pictured... The flapper disc seemed to cause some flat spots. I don't think I want to take away material from the wheel.

Thanks! I'll update as often as I get work done!

Also tried using my 33gal air compressor with an air drill and wire will. It doesn't seem to get enough rpm's to really work at the RTV. :/ Drill sticker says no more than 90psi and max rpm's is 1700. I'll just have to stop by Harbor Freight and find a corded electric drill.
