okay so i've been hearing more and more about people using s13 pignose (zenki, first gen) lips on s14s and thought it looked cool. they dont fit PERFECTLY obviously, but they look awesome imo. Still keeping my old lip just incase i decide to change back, i change my mind alot. but yeah. it mounted pretty simple and looks alot more aggressive. If you want a write up or whatever on how to mount it let me know, i dont mind doing one and if any s14/240 owners have any questions about it feel free to ask here. I seem to do everything forums say not to, and its gotten me reliably through one of the roughest canadian winters i remember going through (knock on wood).
added slip on spacers to the bolt on spacers on my front wheels. also the tire guy refused to balance my front tires because they were too bald. sucks to suck I guess. As soon as the roads stop getting salty ill throw some random all seasons on it and get them all balanced and whatnot. Also hopefully getting an exhaust patch done, its been leaking forever and bothering the shit out of me.
gonna add some slip on spacers to the front, debating notching for more camber but i'd like to actually track it first with the current setup. still needing to bleed the brakes, really a shitty thing to procrastinate.
so i was at the shop working on the car for #240maintenanceweek the other day. on the list was add my bolt on spacers for the rear, fender work (bondo fenders ugh), notch frame seems and rails and even out my tire tuck all around.
part way through notching the frame I noticed a ton of brake fluid on the ground. I mustve accidentally angle grinded through a brake line. Sucks to be me.
The brake line that goes from the passenger side and tees off over the rear subframe and to the drivers side was written off. I was pretty discouraged. After hours of trying to get rounded rusty brake lines off I finally had it out of the t-fitting. The next day i got some brake fluid, brake line, a flair kit and some fittings. Finally got everything attatched, and realized that in my efforts to get the line out of the t-fitting i destroyed the t-fitting; it actually had a crack on the corner. sucks to be me. Stole one from mikes s13 (thank u) and started working on getting hte other two lines out. it was easily the most discouraging thing in the world, nothing sucks more than dealing with rounded brake fittings.
Solution?
vice grip em out, and vice grip em back in.
and vice grip i did. eventually i got everything out and could finally drive my car, only bled them once so the pedal is still pretty squishy. Going to bleed them a few more times this week when i have time, but for now i just feel good that i have my car back on the road.
also in the midst of this i got my rears fitted.
shits cracked but w/e its nothing i haven't dealt with before. I just need to find a day warm enough so i can take my time and work with some bondo.
(also if you look closely you can see the paint is absolutely fucked. thats because we couldnt find a heat gun, so we used an acetylene torch. stupid? yeah, probably. would i do it on a car with fresh paint? hell no. do i reccomend it for getting a fender hot fast? hell yeah. Spray painted cars ftw. (I think im painting it when it warms up anyway))
then i stepped on my brakes and they went crunch and maybe sometimes kinda stopped really working alot
so i got these, found em on a local kijiji ad for 50 bucks. new calipers, discs and brake pads (hawk hp plus) so far they're awesome and way better than the worn down stock pads with unknown km on them
and then i took my sideskirts off to assess the damage that winter did and to my demise rocker guard is absolute shit and nobody in the world should ever buy it ever because it was created by satan to punish the rich (at like 10$ a can) and is deadly and wrong and those who knowingly put it on their cars should be sacked
luckily its only surface rust, so im gonna take the grinder to it and figure that out. i also properly tucked the fender harness
and then i got these:
and my friend mike and i did this:
thats on his 89 coupe. i've been taking proper photos of his build so it'll be up soon. he's putting 18x11 and 18x13s on it, it should be nuts.
anyway someone respond because apparently im typing to myself bye
my friend jesse (@bentleyjesse on instagram, has a black widebody 180sx that he daylies) let me use his eurolines for this burnout nomination business. expect a cool video soon!!
i got oil sprayed. also got stuck on the lift. right up against that front subframe. cash
took my sideskirts off and it turns out rocker guard is absolute shit and nobody should buy it. dont have any photos, just imagine all those pretty rocker patches with a bunch of surface rust on them. its not thinning in any areas or anything, just surface rust. so ill take care of that once it warms up.
also i realized s-chassis aren't low to the ground at all. they all get skirt low. when tax season comes i will change that (with new shock body adjustable coilovers probably, assuming i dont kill the car before then)
tl;dr
i took my sideskirts off and my self esteem went south
got my rear upper control arms in. so yeah, s13 circle type ruca fits s14s. who would've thought.
but i need toe arms big time. between the amount of burnouts i do an hour, the welded diff and the toe i go through tires like no tomorrow. its an issue as im running out of tires.
running -1.4 degrees of camber all around in the rear. waiting for warmer weather and toe rods so i can actually fit this beast. needs more low and camber in the front, and more poke and less toe in the rear. I just really, really want to slide. Patience is running low, cant wait for the season to start.
i hit a racoon or something. i dont know. it was huge. it was huge and i was scared. i felt it rolling under the floor. i felt it ripping and breaking things. i felt my tires leave the ground going 130 km/h. I felt the looks and anguish of the surrounding drivers.
anyway so i decided to do some exhaust tingz, my temporary blast pipe was cool but i got bored of it. Im keeping it, and eventually v-banding it so i can put it back on whenever i want, but im just gonna chill for a while with this new thing:
and then decided to tear off my mud flap and **** my car a bit more
no picture of it on the car yet, its dual four inch (3.75)
so yeah thats what happened. also if you missed it
