  • Yesterday the intercooler silicone fittings I ordered came in!

I'm not running an intercooler YET. So I have to make piece to go from the turbo to the intake manifold. These 2.2 Turbo's never had an intercooler to begin with and that hose/boot piece was MIA when I got the engine.

    So here was the plan...

But then I quickly realized the shit was way too big.

When Jesse showed up we brain stormed a bit and he started cutting. It wasn't too long after that he had a workable piece!

Acouple more clamps and this is good to go! It fits perfect!

      • Since I currently dis like looking at wires, I decided to work on the roof.

I initially stripped the paint off the roof because I want to get at the creamy white under then green paint. Most Ghia's came with a 2 tone, and knowing this I liked the idea of having another 2 tone car. When I was attempting to strip the paint I broke through past the white in a few spots... So I said screw it, its all coming off!

Then it rusted and was awesome. But now it's time to continue with the original idea.

I used a wire wheel and one of those abbrasive discs you put in a drill.

I'm pretty tempted to just throw some clear over the bare roof and call it a day... But I'm not going to.

Tomorrow morning I mask the car, then the paint will get thrown about!

            • Roof update.

Sunday morning I started where I left off Saturday night.

              Car was masked

Etching primer and high build primer went over the steel

Now this is where shit started getting fun.

              Sub base coat.

Then laying down the hard lines.

Then the Base colour was sprayed.

Shortly after we removed the tape.

Tonight we finish the roof! It's the fun part tonight!!!

@mdmvis on instagram for "as it happens" updates!

              Cheers and thanks for watching!

                        • Damn those graphics on the roof look sick with the white and green

When painting a car w/ a rattlecan, is there something special you should look for/think about? I have a mk2 golf that i'm repainting and i'm considering going rattlecan because i don't have enough money for real car paint and just want to finish it so i can drive the damn thing. (soon to be 18yr old and eager to get my DL)

Also, do you have some special technique when painting because that is one of the best rattlecan paintjobs i've ever seen.

                            • Very good work, I really want to see more pics of it. Looks best from the top. Almost want to say the white stands out too much.
