I'm going to say distributor cap/and or plug wires… Same shit happened on my E28. I ran O2 sensorless for the almost the whole time I had it without issue so it makes me doubt that.
Once you take the cap off, you'll be able to see any corrosion on your points.

I'll also add speed/ref sensors and AFM to the checklist. All super easy to check.

My coworker had a similar issue with his 1984 533i. I think his turned about to be some sort of temperature sensor.

Hmmm will check, I know the cap and rotor along with wires were replaced by my buddy before it got sent out. I have an AFM on the way now, maybe it will fix it. It's a pain in the dick cause I get like 10mpg hahaha.

I think mine works fine, but will have to do more testing.

            Also Happy New Year everyone!!!
I got home and I'm still a little tipsy but not quite tired to fall asleep haha so I thought what the hell lemme update my thread.

Huge things coming now that it's 2014. This car is going to be a beast, probably the fastest I've owned, yeah faster then my M3 and of course gorgeous looking with all the classy parts waiting to go on.

New engine? And I ran my e28 without an o2 sensor as well. You would think it would cause it to run odd, but it was not the case for me. What exhaust is on it now?

hey man , its your afm that cause those idling problems! i saw you have one on your way so you will get the problem fixed soon! I know because most e30 and e28 from my country (uruguay) have that problem mostly because of the high cuantity of miles , btw very nice e28 ! enjoy it .

p.s im sorry i suck at english !

KK, Closed loop is when the ECU runs on a predetermined set of values and open loop is when it accepts info from other sensors. I'd check the Mass airflow sensor. I've got nearly the same vane type unit on my Z car and I it helped to clean and lube the vane's pivot points.

Yessir it shall be on the way very shortly. The current exhaust is some crappy thing the precious had welded on before the sale of the car haha.

Yes I am hoping it fixes the problem.

Closed loop would be running off the sensors, which some aren't there haha so the predetermined tune from the factory tries to fill the flaw with its one, becomes somewhat "closed" loop. It's a whole pain in the ass thing haha.

Does anyone have any input on Innovate gauges? Good quality?

                            Currently checking out this

I'm also looking for a boost gauge too, I'm not sure if Innovate offers that same gauge for boost pressure intstead of AFR. I would like both gauges to match ideally.

If anyone has any other brand or anything in mind post them up! Make sure they have black faces and red/amber lighting ... oem look haha.

I like my VDO boost gauge alot. I paid like $30 on amazon for it, and it matches the factory VDO gauges in my 123. In the box is a red bulb condom, you could also swap out the bulb for a red led. VDO makes a bunch of different gauges in the same size and look, I'm putting a matching EGT in on the other side of my ashtray.
