I don't mind the mk4 forums on the tex to be honest. It's kit a lot of noobs that don't know what they're talking about/doing. I try to help out others but most of the time when I respond to somebody's question legitimately, I get told off by the other people. I'm just there to share my knowledge and maybe learn a little bit from the guys that really know what they're doing. But 90% of the kids on there are just that; kids.

Also, the MK4 chassis has gotten so cheap in the last couple years that it's really not hard to afford one when you're 16, or even talk your parents into buying it, it's prob not going to be a nice example, but enough to get you into the "scene" and as long as it's low and has some respectable wheels on it (nowadays even longbeaches are the bees-knees to some of those kids..) the majority will go crazy about it. It's kinda comical.

The billet dipstick is in the plan of things, just not that far along on this build to be thinking about little details like that.

Going up to the shop in about an hour to drain all the rest of the fluids, and maybe disconnect the exhaust from the turbo if I can get my fat ass hands in there..

This is so true. I barely speak on vortex cause I'm not low/ bbs rs. The MKIV scene is amazing, just a lot of the people are just dicks.
And OP while you got it all apart why not change that plastic dipstick tube for a billet one. Mine broke and it was suck a bitch to replace.
    Car is tits.

Looking for a solid 350-400 whp. Also not dead set on a gt28. Been thinking a lot about a GTX30r as they're pretty much the same price, and it spools just like a gt28, so that's prob what I'll get.

I know exactly how you feel=) Currently have my compact in a million pieces (build thread on here) and I get overwhelmed all the time with how much there is to get done

    Thanks man, appreciate it.

It's a little overwhelming as I've never dug into the car this deep, but I feel like I have it under control so far LOL...

Can't go wrong with a bagged, proper badgeless Silverstone MKIV. Aesthetically the car looks fantastic. I used to be on the MKIV forums for hours every day in like 2009-2011ish, and your GTI is a perfect example of why I find these cars so attractive.

Ultimately, I think it was the people that kind of pushed me away from the MKIV forums, just a bunch of buttholes. I think Quicksilver would fit right in

Good luck on your project, keep it up!

He's begging for attention, just ignore him..

    Anyways..

So I got off work tonight and decided to pull the core support, radiator, fans and AC condenser off the car in preparation to have the motor out on Friday. Not. Fucking. Around.

Also picked these up the other day and forgot to grab pictures. Basically just need to buy the turbo, injectors and the fuel pump and I can really start mocking things up. Unsure what I'm going to do for boost piping, but it will most likely be all one off stuff..

Finally started ripping into her heart yesterday. I bought Urotunings "ultimate silicone plus" SAI/N249/EVAP kit and let me say that it's pretty much a waste of money. They either sent me the wrong plug in resistors or the kit is just poorly engineered. The only nice piece is the 034 catch can kit. Pretty trick silicone hoses that go from the EVAP port under the intake manifold to the breather on the valve cover. The can could either be re-circulated or vented to atmosphere. It also has the ability to recirculate the oil into the pan using a pretty slick adapter plate (I'm just going to route the drain hose under the car).

Anyhoo, hopefully I can start removing the motor on Friday this week. My goal as of now is to have the motor back from the builder by December 1st. I'm also buying an AEB head from a buddy, but it needs new guides/seals. Going to go through a shop called Ravenworks to do all the building.

Quick question, are calico rod bearings worth it the extra $100 for a simple coating? Everyone I've talked to says to just go OEM.

I also decided to go with a front mount, unsure of the brand as of now but I'm thinking SPM? Anybody running one of them on thier BT setups?

    Bye bye emissions!

Mocked a few things up for ****s and giggles. How I left the bay last night.. So overwhelming to say the least!
