In other news, the car passed its technical inspection (every 2 years in Greece)

and here it is, giving a hand in my main project

Really love how it is starting to take back its old personality from when I had it

I also started working on the engine bay, have some plans in mind

    Removed this tired OEM insulation

And cleaned the underbonnet a bit

Not finished yet, I have more on this coming too

Finally I ordered this, so as to install my old racing steering wheel, to find my proper driving position again

    Stay tuned.

    Cheers

So a new box arrived today

It had some things for the golf, like a new AEM filter

and some hoses to fabricate a new CAI

    Some very cool Polo shirts

It also had some things for the Audi though

like my new longer studs which will be needed for the forthcoming spacers

    And this lovely thing

    But that is not all.

Having removed the muffler from the A4, I did not want to sell it, cause I like it too much. So . . . this happened . . .

    Previous exhaust setup

    Me no likey

    Let's cut it

    Bye Bye

    Hmmmm....

    What if . . .

Let's cut what gets in the way

    Testing

    Exhaust hanger

Guess which is the new work and which one the old

    Let's move on.

I lost no time, and wanted to go a bit wider on the car. I opted for 245.40.18 like I was running on my Audi. For now at least.

So i took my old R888s and some Vredesteins for the front, and threw them on the car.

let me guide you with pics

    bye bye 225.40

    Hello wideness

    -yeah yeah, I got this

Fitment was spot on on the rear

`And took some . . . love on the front to sit like I wanted it with no rubbing

Brought them tires home safely - lol

    Car sat pretty much perfectly

    Cheers, more to come

So, one of the first things I ordered for the Golf was the set of smoked side repeaters for the mirrors. However it has been a while, and they were nowhere to be found, until today, that they arrived at last.

Along with another box for the Audi project

More on that on the Audi build thread.

    Let's see the repeaters here

    Really nice quality and finish

    Passenger's side first

Removed the crystal mount as well, no need for that

New and damaged one, side by side

    Test twice, bolt once

    All done

    Driver's side too

Subtle and classy, and fresh at last

    Cheers, more to come

So, while the car was in the family, my father had done a Xenon conversion with a 6000K kit, looking something like this

it was not bad at all, plus it was nice, but, being me, I wanted something different, something that had an Audi touch in it, so . . . this happened

    And then this

yeap, that's more like it now, Audi's little brother is out there

And on another note, I had this bothering me, on the center console

So yes, correct guess, bought a new part from the stealership

I will propably wait to find a new climatronic unit, and fit them both at the same time.

    Cheers

So, where were we. Yes. I have some more updates to show you.

Found a new package on my passenger's side this morning

I had to see what's inside it

yeaaaaaah, cf mirrors - whole replacement caps of course, not silly sticky covers

    Before

    And after

Again before, epic drawing, hell yeah

    After

Really subtle and nice modification, I think

I have some more to show you

    uploading pics later on

    Cheers

So today it was time to install the H&R lowering springs with the GTI shocks.

Some pics of the process in the shop

    Stock GTI springs

    And rear H&r ones

    Front before

    And after

making some adjustments to my tastes

And now some befores, and some afters of the car, in the same spot

    Before

    After

    Before

    After

    Before

    After

    Before

    After

    Before

    After

Came out great, and then had quick clean with the other Audi

I hope you liked it too

    Cheers

Oem MKV Gti, Lower middle grille installed

So front end, is pretty much ok for now

So this car, has had some suspension setups in its life

    1. OEM GT
    2. GT shock absorbers with 50mm HR springs
    3. Custom Bilstein PSS with HR custom springs
    4. OEM MKV Gti suspension as it is today.

I wanted it to go a bit lower, so was thinking of getting back a set of HR springs for now. Yes it would be harsh, but I wouldnt take this to the track, I knew it was a not so politically correct setup, but hey, the absorbers have lived their life by now anyway. So for the last weeks I was in the look-out for some springs, and if nothing came up, I would buy some new ones . . .

Until today, that I went to another garage I have, to leave some Audi parts, and saw a HR box . . . Hmmmm...Could it be . . .

Well yes it could. I had totally forgotten the fact that I had not sold mine, and there they were . . . gave them a quick clean, and here they are lined up

So happy - and learned my lesson, to check for stock first - LOL

So, another issue I wanted to address is to clean my leather interior a bit.

So I got armed with this new product from Andy @ Dazzle LTd

The results from cleaning were a bit more than impressive

Tomorrow I want to have another pass at them to further enhance their being soft and cared after, cause I want it to stay like new

On another note, I found a way to protect my alcantara steering wheel of my Audi, while not using it -

    hmmmm....

    LoL - works perfectly

-dont mind the floormat, it will be changed :p:p

So went to the stealership for some more shopping today, second time I am buying this thing - well worth the money for its oem quality though -nothing cheap here

    Here it is

    Along with the VW Badge

    Going artistic

Carefully removed the GTI badge so as to modify it

As well as the red stripe

Removed the "I" easily with the heat gun, almost no glue residue left

I then prepped the parts that were to be painted, the VW badge, the GT one, and the stripe

    Audi approved the whole procedure

A hint of the colour I went with

    Time to remove this grille

    Cleaned the inner bumper part

Stripe installed on the grille - looking good

    Badge modified too

let's see how it came out

Yummy, looks like a win to me

    Cheers
