    Thanks guys!

I am an engineer. Just graduated last summer. I play with SolidWorks all day!

So when I started this project, all I wanted to do was swap the engine and put a little more athletic wheels on it...but I got a little carried away. I now have the tr7 on a rotisserie to go through everything.

I wanted to get to the underside of the car for a few reasons:

    - The triumph engine and trans leaked a lot. I was tired of being coated in thick tar and black widow webs every time i crawled under.
    - The undercoating on these cars is thick, sticky, and can hide a lot of rust before you know it.
    - I needed access to weld up patch panels for rust as well as reinforcements for the rear control arm pickups.

About 8 hours and a few wire wheels later, I got most of the tar off. Next, I need to strip the wheel wells.

Seems that you have quite a project going on.

I hope this isn't one of these builds where people get in over their head, or lose interest in spending thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours on an old car.

Good luck man, it has potential.

Wow this might just be awesome. Nice to see a survivor, I didn't think many made it out of England and the ones that stayed mainly died on our wet, salty roads. Good luck with the build I really hope this is successful

Let me know how it works out with your 3.4. I put one in my 61 and kept it fuel injected. Still needs tweaking, can't get it to run 100% right so far. Getting close, but I suspect it is my fuel delivery with a LP and HP pump setup and fuel accumulator. I would love to do a turbo setup on mine. Currently working on a turbo setup for my other car from scratch using a weber dgv.

Sweet! With AC too! I envy you. Every car ive owned and driven never had AC.

Thanks guys. I've finished repairing rust and i pulled this badboy off the rotisserie and its back on jackstands. I found a good deal on a 5.3L lm7, If you don't know, that's a Gen III GM small block rated at 270hp. with everything all said and done it should weigh ~100lbs more than the triumph lump(TR7 engine is the Stag's iron OHC V8 without one bank, heavy). I cant afford a T56, so i have some tricks up my sleeve for running a standard small block manual trans.

                  More updates to come

This is what happens when you have to build a house and work 60hr weeks at a startup company!

                      Made some progress today!
First I cut off the old shock mounts on the axle. Im running coilovers

Next I cleaned the gas tank. I have had vaporlock problems with an external pump when I had injection on my wagon, so Im going to weld in a flange so i can run an intank pup and a VDO fuel gauge

Next I cleaned up the lower trailing arms

Ive decided I want to run an 8 or 9" 15 rather than these 7s on the rear. And maybe an inch more sidewall to fill out the gap

                        Got the motor today!

Literally had to use a crowbar to shove this thing in for a test fit.

Plenty of clearance for long tube headers!

This is going to be good. Were a lot of these sold? I don't think I have seen one before.

Huh, to which I'll repeat and say, "Hopefully not 2.5 months later!" HaHa!

Look, I love this build-just about spooged on myself when the email notification came in.

Developing start-up now and feel your pain. I have two RX-7s in garage with one covered in dust. I ain't getting rid of it though- hope you don't either. G/L
