Cool looking car, but I hope you're not filling rust holes full of Bondo.

Nothing too deep, mostly bubbling for the most part. This isn't the XJ that I would replace panels on, it's just too much money for what it's worth.

nice Jag! dont give it up, I love my XJ6, its a bit newer ('95). Its my DD so I havent modified yet, but I'm seriously considering lowering it and putting some wheels on it. I love the style 5s.

Can I ask what you used to compress the front springs to put them back on? Did you have the official jag tool for that? I know the spring has a mega angle on it, and most spring compressors only pull straight down.

I have mixed feelings about this proposition.

I wouldn't trade a daily drivable car for a rat rod, ever. That's just me.

With that said though, I'm really just not into rat rods at all. Real hot rods is where it's at.

See, the thing is, I'm not very smart, so I just kept cutting until the spring would fit back in with some hammer poundin'. I am aware of the jag-specific spring compressor, I just wasn't able to get my hands on one, so I did my best without it.

That's the thing though, it's got a modern drivetrain, which is the only way I would consider it. It's just a good 'ol fashion Chevy 350 and auto trans. It's not like the "rust and rot" type of rat rod. More like a "black primer" and colored accents typed thing. There's still the possibility of restoration, though.

Yeah, I keep her on CL for shits and giggles no too many offers, people are terrified of these cars, and with good reason.

I got yelled at for it pissing itself in the school parking lot. Hopefully getting on that radiator tomorrow!

Well that would change things...carb'd or FI? I' d have to consider suspension and stuff too though. I'd probably do it, but I loooooove old cars.

It's carb'd, which is nice in my opinion. It's been lowered significantly so far, so I'm hoping that maybe part of that lowering process yielded some updated suspension components. I'm really leaning towards it.

ah HA! that makes sense, I just had mine apart and i hacked up an autozone GM spring compressor until it fit. either way works! so how much did you cut off to get that ride height? looks like you lowered it maybe 2" from stock?

I cut 3.5 springs out of the front on each side, translating to about 4 inches lower. To put that in to perspective, I can't drive down the middle of the road because its just constantly laying frame.

It's pretty neat already, but not cool enough. I would go lower, chop up the front fenders, no hood. And probably go the wheels and accents in Tiffany blue.
