Hey guys, posting up a build thread of our 87 Vw Jetta coupe. Originally an anemic 1.8L 8v auto. Bought it from a guy in Colorado who included a lot of gli parts as well. We were originally just going to make it a 16v digi car but as time passed the car got old enough where it didn't need an emissions inspection anymore so we decided to carb it instead. Sometime in the future we will be building an ABA16V up to turbo for this car. Here's some pics of some of our progress.
No pics of the disassembly because those are boring.

Some lippage...

We went ahead and removed everything under the hood and the interior because originally we were going to change the color, but the white grew on us so we decided to keep it.

Got under the hood, to start cleaning it up and it soon got out of control...
Removed the raintray, and made a panel to smooth it out. Some people call this shaving the bay, we call it melting metal art.

Firewall plate

Chassis leg plates

Inner Fender plates

Looking better already

Making a strut tower cover/box/idunno/coolantbottle thingie

Other side

We don't know what we're gonna put in there so no holes have been cut out.

Made some panels for the raintray area to finish it off

As it sits now

Then we removed the front suspension, engine cradle, pretty much everything to get stitch welded and powdercoated.

and if you were wondering what wheels we had on it... Borbet Type A's 16x7.5 and 16x9 staggered set. Wheels might change though.

If you can believe it, these are our shop rollers, which means we use these for 4x100 cars when they get a flat to roll around with lol.
That's all we got for now, Tell us what you think.
