  • Still been really busy working on the shop but I finally got around to taking some pictures of the place last week and I'm just now uploading them.

Here is the building itself. It's about a 20 year old metal building that was being used as a warehouse.

It's divided into two sections. The front section was refinished a couple years ago and is smaller than the back section. It has an office area that wasn't quite complete so this past week I have been doing all of the dry wall work on it. On top of the office used to be a storage room but we tore it down and built a railing around the top so we could store parts and stuff up there.

Here is the back room. It was never really finished so this week all the metal paneling is going up. A lot of the insulation was damaged so I've spent the last two weeks fixing that when I have a little free time.

Around the side has a nice covered area that I have been using to park all the e30s. I have three that I am parting and and one that I fixed and am selling. It's in the process of being paved right now and will hopefully be finished by the end of the week depending on the weather.

All in all everything is going great. I haven't worked on cars much but I have learned a lot about construction which is always good to know. I have my first customer job this week doing a 5 speed swap which is pretty exciting to finally get the ball rolling.

In case you don't want to see pics of the shop here is a pic of the bmw to keep your interest.

    • Pics of the shop aren't working! Sounds awesome though, can't wait to see it. Having your own shop space is the best thing ever

Yeah I fucked up and deleted all the pics off my build thread flickr and I don't have any way of getting all the pics back because a lot of them were on my old computer and I'm too lazy. I'll be starting another build thread soon because I think I'm getting another bmw, an older one I might add

        • Fixed the photos of the shop. Unfortunately I lost most of my build thread photos so unless I go dig through my external hard drives then the pics are going to stay broken. I think I'm going to start a build thread for the whole shop and I'll include my personal cars

            • Absolutely beautiful. Your taste and craftsmanship gave life to that e30. Love the shop too! I get out of the army in 7 months. When do I start?

                Thanks man, I'm pretty excited.

I'm in college but I flip cars and part out e30s right now. My Dad and I formed a company for the shop and I'm running it so that's going to be my job once the building is finished.

                  • Went to dankfest yesterday. Pretty much the last time the car will be out in public until SOWO.

Plans for the offseason are to clean it up and do some mods that I neglected that really need to be done in order to get the car to where it really needs to be.

List of things currently planned are:

Respray the exterior (some body work will be involved removing dents, etc and will be stock color)

                    IS sideskirts

                    zender rear valence

                    Install crackless dash

                    seats reupholstered

fix small rust in battery tray

                    get car tuned properly

As you can see, not a lot planned and nothing crazy, but I'm just trying to get the car in a state where I'm happy with it and it will be able to be sold for a proper price as I'm planning to put it up for sale after SOWO. That said if anybody would like to buy it I will consider so message me!

                        • Long time no update.

I'm back at school so I haven't even been around the car for a couple months. I've just been planning what to do to it during the winter. I contemplated selling it but I figured it would be hard to sell for a good price with the condition that it is in. My shop is getting a paint booth in November so I decided to be the test dummy and be the first car sprayed in it.

The shop is pretty much complete when it comes to all the restoration work of the building. The walls and floors are painted and all the metal work is done. Basically all that is left is to finish the office. I don't have any pics but I'll get some during thanksgiving.

Now it's time to start buying machines and fab stuff so we can start building more cars.

Here is a little teaser pic of the floors finish.

                            • UPDATE TIME

First of all, sorry for the lack of updates. I've been busy with school and I haven't worked on the car at all, I have just been working on the shop. It's a new year though which means time for round two on the BMW. I'll try to get the rest of the pictures in this thread working again but let's move onto the new stuff.

Here is quick update on the shop and some of the stuff we have done to it.

We finally got a couple machines installed with plenty more to come.

Installed some shelving to put parts on.

Got some other major things done as well that you can see in the photos above. Obviously, the floor got painted. Also, the blue lines running around the shop are the airlines that we finally have working which are amazing. We also installed a lot of new lighting and many other miscellaneous things.

Okay, enough of the shop and onto the car. So as previously stated in my previous post, I have decided to respray the car. It looked great in photos but it had plenty of imperfections and the roof had a lot of "crows feet" so I figured now is better than never.

It took about two relaxed days to strip the car and everything actually went pretty smooth. I won't bore you tear down pics I'll just show the final result. The only negative thing was the discovery of rust...which was slightly expected. There are only 3 areas on the entire car and they are all right next to each other which I guess is a good thing. I'll be taking care of it while I do the body work this week so I'll post a lot during the repair.

And last but not least, after stripping the car I decided to give a little test run with the sander. No going back now.
