  • Well.. yeah, run it in AWD. Lol
I guess if they wanted corrected numbers for awd they could just do the math on the drivetrain power loss percentage though.

No, not really. It's also very rare to actually find an AWD dyno that reads high enough for this sort of power. They're out there, but none are even remotely local (to my knowledge).

Obviously. But first of all we really don't care about horsepower numbers. The dyno could output stars and smiley faces for all we care. As long as we are able to see improvements then we're satisfied. All too often (nearly always) people get hung up on a number when it's track times that really matter. Secondly this is our personal dyno so there's that.

I see your point. Most of the people who come to the shop are all about the dyno numbers, but then again most of the high horsepower cars we put together only see the track a few times a year. (The very wealthy around here tend to build cars that live only in their garage)

          Anyway, keep killin it man!

          • Update!

Canada was minorly unsuccessful even though we turned it back up to 955whp. The TCM kept closing the throttle blade waaayyyyyy before the shift point. With all the extra power we're making now, even the Mopar TCM couldn't handle the shifting duties. The car literally fell on its face between every shift. We looked at the logs and between 1st and 2nd the car's mph actually decreased! With that said, we only netted a best of 10.35 at 137. We left saddened but happy that nothing broke and the problem is as easy as plugging in a hopped-up TCM.
Sorry for the lack of pictures. I'll get a video up soon though!

              • Do I have any updates on this? YOU BETCHA.

I'm terribly sorry for not posting in there, my Honda's thread, or anywhere for the past few months. Wedding planning, working a full time job, and doing cars in the evenings is tough and doesn't leave much time for the ol' interwebs. Anyways, there have been many improvements worth noting with this Jeep.

Firstly, we (mostly) fixed the shifting issue. Until technology gets better, we're kind of stuck with laggy shifts. While the shifts are night and day better than they were at the time of the last post, much improvement is still to be had.

After the fixes were made, we went to a local Mopar event at Quaker City. This event was for older Mopars but all the old guys loved the Jeep.

One important thing to note about this particular track is this: it has a slight up-hill grade at the end which knocks off a consistent 1-2 tenths of a second from every car that races there.

Our first pass on lower boost went well so we turned it up to our set 19 psi. Here's a little video of the next pass...

It was an amazing and fulfilling day! Remember, this track is a couple tenths slower so this Jeep is probably a 9.80's or 9.70's car!

After that event we took it to the Flashlight Drags (a local event on an 1/8th mile course just for fun). Raced an old fiberglass-front Chevy. It was cool. (video)

Since then, we've installed a deep transmission pan and re-made the crossover pipe to fit. At the next Flashlight Drags we had the converter bolts either back out or snap on us so the Jeep is on the lift. We also suspect some damage to the clutch packs as evidenced by the near-black and burnt tranny fluid.

But that's fine. We've really been beating the snot out of this Jeep. Multiple 10.00 and high 9 passes and this is the only thing that gives us any issue? Fine in our books

                Until next time,

                • Update:

Last night after work I dropped the motor because guess what we're swapping in a 5.7 punched out and stroked to a 426. We're going faster

Stay tuned for updates this season. A big surprise is coming.

I'm still here! Time constraints from work and home life don't really permit me to sit on forums as much as I'd like but I'll pop in every now and again.

Yep! I live about 20 minutes north of Cranberry and am there quite often. Especially in the summer for the Starlight Cruise in Wexford.
