yes the weight of the diamonds will affect a shitload its not the same as the weight of a sound system.
have you heard of un sprung weight? it will drastically affect your cars breaking and suspension characteristics, causing a potential dangerous situation, to add to that diamond racing wheels are not hub centric you will get nasty vibrations at higher speeds, as gay as those xxr are they are much better than steelies.

and just advise if your dad really gets mad about you modding. you shouldnt be modding

unsprung equals suspension and everything that makes car move. sprung being everything else. correct? I didnt even think about that. note taken.

my dad doesnt get mad about modding. how do i put this. he would be ok with me gettng new wheels, but he would want me to paint them. hed let me get coilovers, but he wouldnt let me cut springs or something like that. He wants me to buy things that are ready to go as they come. does that make sense?

Then Diamonds aren't your thing. They aren't hub centric so they cannot be balanced with your ever day tire-shop balance machine. I also do not think they will flow with the looks of the car.

You have heard they are "light and strong for racing" because they are. For dirt track guys.

Just save up and get some Rotiforms or Image or something.

Glad to see you started another thread. Get used legit wheels. There cheap, you can refurb them yourself, and most cases they'll be cheaper then rotas.

That's what I'm thinking about. I've heard of people buying chrome 3 piece normally 700$ or something each for a couple hundred all scuffed up and rusted. A little elbow grease later and they are looking brand new.

While we're at it, does anyone have a link to a tutorial on how to restore chrome wheels or rusted wheels? That way I can save it for later.

Edit: and you know you can use [ B]bold[/B] for orange instead of using all that color code.

I thought you said you despised chrome wheels? In my opinion chrome will not work well on this car. Polished aluminum is as probably flashy as I would go. But it's your car, man! Make it how you want.

Since I'd like to see this thread not turn into a shitstorm, I'll actually throw up some helpful info on this subject.

I saw your pic in the dude's red E46 thread, and here is what I did:

                  Before:

I loosened the cv boot clamp, and moved the whole boot towards the joint then tightened the clamp as much as I could. I have since put a bunch of zipties on the cv shaft to keep the boot even closer to the joint.

This will however make CV boot grease sling all over the fucking place though. I don't know how, but my CV boots have been slinging grease for the past 40k miles but the CV joints are still quiet.

                  Good Luck.

Also, when it comes to wheel refinishing, there is a whole stickey'd topic in the 'Wheels and Brakes" section of this forum. As far as I know, there is no real way to make chrome look better other than re-chroming. My wheel lips were chrome plated but very cloudy, so I sanded off all the chrome to get to the aluminum, then polished them.

Anyways, it goes step by step in that topic what you'll need and how to do it. I did mine entirely by hand starting with 180 grit wet and ending with 2000 grit wet before buffing and polishing. All said and done it took me 45 hours to do the wheels, so it's not a quick project. (Could be quicker for others, I am super meticulous.)

                    ^holy balls man thanks!

And my front right cv boot has been slinging for ages. I clean everything once a week. I actually patched a cm tear with rubber cement. It the only tear I've found yet it STILL slings from somewhere else. But hey, if you've done 40k I'm not worried.

                          For polishing lips : http://www.stanceworks.com/forums/sh...ight=Polishing

Rest of refinishing wheels is just removing or sanding paint and then repainting. Hopefully that helps. Cars looking good man!
