Guest repliedHere's todays progress. Not really. But I learned a lot today. I had two problems
1. My cv boots were stopping me from lowering in the front.*
2. Back fenders needed some work.*
1. The bottom of my shock was making contact with my cv not allowing me to lower.*
This isn't my picture but it gives you an idea of the problem
So to fix that, I cut off the old cv boot clamps and added my own*
this way I can squish the cv boot back for more clearance.*
It was all fun and games until I lowered the carthe coils would only go down .5 more inches. And after that, the wheels were colliding with the coils. Even at 0 degrees camber. so now we move on to the rear.*
These little buggers are being mean to my tires.*
So I pulled out the heat gun, and a dremel and went to town. It's a little sketchy looking in the pic. But it's been cleaned up and will be coated later to protect from rust.*
Next project: pull fenders. I'm going to pull the fenders until I can fit my 25mm spacers on the back. And then I will move the 10mm from the back up to the front. Once the front is spaced, it clear the coil. And with some neg camber I can lower it enough to hopefully get a decent fitment. I've been looking all over for replacement springs for the coilovers but I decided its not worth it. I'll cut my losses and wait until I can afford an extreme drop kit. Probably D2 or Megan's.*

Guest repliedWell see, I still want my 18x9.5
So if I get the xxrs spaced perfectly, I can look for a set with the same offset. 18x9.5 is a very common size.
Offtopic: I did some work up front this morning. I took some pictures I'll throw up

I realy like bbs. just a rough guess, lets say max 200 a wheel. i like all types of rims. honestl I dont have a "type" to start with. I more or less just want "respectable" companies to start browsing rims. Because there are tooooooooons of companies.
Now that that's taken care of, you're not going to get much for $200 a wheel.
Here is what I would do;
Stop buying spacers for your current wheels. Take them off the car, put your stocks on, and see if you can get $600 for them with the tires. (Mind you I bought a set of tirerack wheels, spent about $1100 on them with tires, and when I sold them 3 months later, I had a hard time getting $500 for them).
Cut your losses and move on.
Now, as for new wheels, get creative. Spend time of forums scouring through the wheel classifieds to see what's out there. Look to spend about 1000-1200 on a decent set of used wheels that will need a little work. Chances are they will be 17 or 18" diameter and maybe 9" wide at around that price (from the looking I have done.)
If the wheels are wider and you think you can fit them, that's great. Now if they are sunk, you can always buy them, clean them up, run them and save money, then buy wider lips and re-build them if they are 3-piece or send them out to have them widened if they are 2 piece.
Anyways, you have lots of options. When I first joined this site everyone said to dump my wheels and I'm glad I did. Just be patient and adamant on finding a good set of used wheels and in no time you'll have something.

Guest repliedOriginally posted by Rally View PostIt'd probably be easier to help if you gave us the realm of your budget and a general idea of what style wheel you want to go for. Euro? Sporty? JDM? There are all sorts of companies creating their own wheels in all sorts of price brackets and styles. I'd be glad to help you find something to fit your needs once I have a general understanding

Guest repliedOriginally posted by Rally View PostThere was no intention to "over react". I was simply making my point via a kind-hearted dinosaur joke. I would never judge someone for their wheel selection or their modification path. I simply wanted to propose an alternate path for your consideration. It's not always about getting people's attention.
All in good fun. Keep doing what makes you happy

Guest repliedLol had some free time and decided to throw 25mm on the front. Looks god awful.
Also, started preparing for those 25mm to go in the back. I started pulling the rear fenders today. Tomorrow I'll test fit in class and post some pics. Tomorrow's update should have plenty of pics.
