  • RS200Z JDM Toyota Altezza build - Beware 56k

Hey there guys so ive been lingering around this site for a while checking out a lot of the posts regarding wheel fitment and aggressive stance setups as i have recently purchased a 2001 RS200Z Altezza.

The Altezza is faily common around this part of the world but there are however quite a few variants of the model. (for those of you who dont know where New Zealand is its about 2hours flight time past Australia)

The Z on the end stands for good stuff ie the Torsen LSD from factory and bigger brakes package.

Here is a quick list of the stuff i did over the last month or so:

    - Paint the headlight inners - done
    - Paint the tail light inners
    - Paint the fog light inners - done
    - Paint the chrome grill black - done
    - Paint the red Altezza badge blue to suit the car -done
    - Possibly remove the spoiler Replaced with an Area51/Hippo Sleek spoiler
    - Order some coilovers to get some stance going on -done
    - Install my sound system from the silvia with 2x 10inch infinity subs -half done
    - Order some 18x9 18x10 wheels -done...found some nice offset/dished Work Equips!!!

Here is what it looked like when i picked it up:

So im not a huge fan of the chrome all over IS/Altezzas so decided it needed to change: (Headlights, Fogs, Grille and badge painted)

    Comparison:

Suspension has arrived Apexi N1 Coilovers

    I found some 18x9 +24 & 18x10 +22 Work Equips and snapped them up in a heartbeat!

Waited a couple of weeks for them to arrive...squeezed my nuts during the wait to keep myself at bay.

    Finally they arrived!!!

Unfortunately the left hand side had a bit of rough curbing...enough to annoy me, so off to the wheel refinishers they went.

Quick 30 second clean and fit up.

Gonna be a nice and tight fit!

Fitting up horey styles...damn low jack splitting a seal and oil=everywhere!

Side note, his and hers : the Mrs has a tiptronic RS200Z no lsd or big brakes.

While the wheels were away getting the curbing removed i got down to business on other things.

Managed to source an Area51 ducktail spoiler cheap as chips ($80usd) and sold my factory spoiler.

Took my mind off of the Altezza build for a week or 2 to get the parts for my S15 and get it back to a road ready state.

Area 51 Ducktail fitted up. Love the way the body flows into it. Will go well with the aggressive wheel setup in my opinion...Cant wait!

Yes i know i need to hurry up and paint the tails and remove the towbar :P

Went and collected my 2 Equips that were getting the lips refurbished.
Started taking the 2 apart that i had at home. Damn those bolts take an age to remove!@!

Also you will notice the brand spankin new Falken tyres in the background
Ready to be stretched onto the wheels.

Managed to pick up some blue OEM JDM side skirts today for a whopping $42USD

    Like these:

Got busy on the Equips and got them prepped up for the upcoming paint job.

This is where i am at currently. Will be finishing off the wheels tonight then putting the coilovers in early next week along with my tyres fitted up and a certification for low

I prefer these car without a spoiler but the Equips make up for the ducktail

Can't wait to see how the wheels will look on the car !

You and me both! But i got the Area51 ducktail (very rare) for a ridiculously low price so it took over the option of getting the holes from the spoiler sealed and painted.

Good man. Ill find some images of the s15 for you. Sadly it was the non turbo model... i had an SR20DET sitting in my shed ready to go into it.

Yep, you need a cert if you wish to go below 100mm OR if you have coilovers, bags etc etc as you can go to 100mm on springs and struts but any lower or any better and you have to pay between $300-$400 for certification BUT you can also do things at the same time and get one cert for all. For example you could do a 2jz manual swap into an Altezza, put coilovers in and other things like that then cert it at the same time under one low volume certification.

Most of us dont really mind as it keeps the crap off of our roads with cut springs. Cut springs are fine in my books for cruisers but over here we have no power restrictions on cars. For example at the age of 15 you can own a R32 GTS-T Skyline for $3000 if you want. So there are a lot of drift hacks that shouldn't be on the road and with these restrictions we dont get placed in the same boat and chased by the fuzz

I love me some Altezzas (the cars not the shitty ricer knock off lights). I like where this is going.
                    Sup. Call me Z.

Haha a loose term for poorly executed i guess. I meant i did it horey styles as in it could have been done a whole lot better.

Cheers mate, you and me both. In our country we have a good amount of Altezzas (usually the 1GFE model) but are like the comment above...horey high offset wheels, lowering springs that dont actually lower, chromies...the lot haha.

For the guy above that asked about my S15. Here is an old pic before i lowered it and put work into it. The S15 infront of mine was an operation gone wrong. 180sx front, s15 rear. The front guards went ping when we were entering a track and he was on the wrong end of a pot hole.

I'm liking the front end, and those Equips are beautiful!
I'll admit, the big lip is looking better IMO than the previous spoiler.
In to see how it's going to look on those wheels, wide stance for sure.

Don't tell me life is so short, what have you done that's longer?

Thanks for the info, and it's true that it helps clean the roads I'm sure.
Now let's see some tezza updates!

Just to keep up to date image wise, these are the wheels from last week :P

                              Om nom nom.
