Somehow seeing this thread for the first time today, not sure how I missed it. Awesome build and I admire your patience and persistence with this thing, you've done a great job with everything. Your contest win was well deserved, I look forward to seeing it all buttoned up and aired out. Good luck with the install

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Tomorrow I get the car out of storage (and by storage I mean a barn) and hope that it starts right up. Hitting the junkyard just because I haven't been in months, and then doing the install on Sunday when I have access to a lift and a couple awesome friends to help out.
I'm just hoping it sits decently low as-is with only one frame notch. 99% sure I'll have to do another one though.

With the help of two awesome friends and their shop with a lift, we got the air installed in about 5 hours. They had done installs before so that helped with where to run the lines, where to splice into the power, etc.
Everything went together like it should. I love this kit already.
Yes blurry whatever. Apparently I can change the backlit color
These Performance series top hats look SO GOOD in my bay.
So there's no actual trunk setup yet. I'm tacking that when I make a whole false floor/rear seat delete soon. But it works like it should and makes psh psh noises.
It's not as low as it should be. I knew from the beginning that I would need another frame notch on the driver side. The fronts are currently held up by the tires hitting the fenders and lack of camber. I adjusted the top hats all the way in but it's still not enough. For some reason the front struts don't have much negative adjustability at the bottom. The OE eccentric bolts (which usually control front camber) don't seem to work with these struts.
The rears aren't quite sitting on tire yet. The shock height is adjustable on these and default is rather high. I spun them up in the rear as much as I could but the air fitting into the strut gets in the way of spinning up the housing any more. If I get a couple 90 degree fittings that will give me the clearance I need to further shorten the entire strut.
I will fiddle with it more tomorrow but then I have to go back to school. I am leaving the car at my friend's shop where we did the install so he can take a look at my clutch and check why it's slipping. I don't think the rear main was done during the swap so I assume that's leaking onto the clutch disk and causing slippage. Being at school with no garage in the winter blows. Really limits me in terms of what I'd like to get done.

I went back yesterday to dial it in more and install camber bolts in the front struts.
Obligatory:
I had to go back to school and leave the car in the capable hands of my friend Will. He owns a shop local to me and he's going to check out the clutch slip situation. I'm pretty sure it's a leaky rear main. He's also going to do my driver side frame notch until I come home next month for my spring break. Until then I've got another set of wheels to build for my Golf!

Car looks great! I was driving down eastern parkway right after I saw your post on Louisville Imports or something, and I saw a red Scirroco stall while trying to turn onto a side street and at first I thought it may have been you, then I noticed it wasn't on rs's so I knew it wasn't you lol.

Man, you weren't lying when you said that engine didn't look good. Personally i think gold similar to the wheels would look great and create a nice theme for the car.e28 build thread
