have you had any trouble with it? do you have a pyrometer hooked up? if you do what is the max temp you let it get to?

A ton of maintenance stuff, replaced the head gasket, rebuilt the entire shifter setup, fixed a bunch of rust on the floors and put a lot of sound deadener down, full 2.5" exhast, among LOTS of other things. I have an EGT gauge, highest I have seen is just over 1000, but I was TRYING to see how high it would go. Usually it doesnt even touch 900. Cruising at 65-80 on the highway its at 500-750. I know people that run temps up to 1500 for very short spurts.

i have gotten mine up to 1350 but it was on a ten minute uphill, the previous owner (a vw mechanic) installed a super legit secondary fan that keeps it fairly low most of the time

A secondary radiator fan? The coolant temp really doesnt affect EGT's. My radiator fan doesnt even work right now and It doesnt give me a single problem other than overheating after idling 5+ minutes
