So... been doing some maintenance / repairs...
First I swapped out the valve cover gasket and the chain case gasket to fix the Oil leak...
But in the process I broke the water pump, doh.
Got the new pump yesterday and intalled it today, along with a new belt.
Out with the old...
Comparo, see the missing bit?
In with the new...
Reinstall the rest...
Done.
And also I just ordered a repair kit for my front axle...
After that the next thing on the to do list is some coils.
Was planning on going with APs or Vogtlands or maybe Lowtecs, which are all around 700-800€. But I'm currently investigating FK Highsports, which are the cheapest option for the E38 at 430€... I'm not sure if these will match my expectations, from what I've heard they're reasonably good, so I might take the plunge and order a set.

So,
spooled off 400kms in the 7 this weekend and it seems that the repairs are holding up fine. And no more oil leak!
To celebrate, I gave it a mini-detail.

Hah, Broadways would be a dream, but there's a few reasons speaking against them. a.) Legality - as usual, TÜV is the deal breaker here. The Broadways don't come with the necessary TÜV papers, so I couldn't get them TÜVed. Which means, I'd be rolling around illegal, which in worst case would mean 3 points to my licence, a fine and if the cops deem it unsafe, they have the right to impound it for the time being. And as I drive the 7 daily, I need it to be legal. b.) The price. The Broadways including shipping and all would be more than I'm currently looking to spend on the 7. However, if my 3 needs some new suspension in the future, Broadways are a definite option.
Anyways...
Did my front wishbones, traction struts and sway bar supports yesterday.
World of difference! No more clunking noises, no more vibration, super quiet ride. Now it just needs an alignment, as the toe is somehow off.
Next up: coils, then wheels!Last edited by Dr.AK; 05-12-2013, 02:01 PM.

Love the color on this. This thread makes me really want a 7 as a daily.
LOL, BMW 7 as a daily with a KIA as a project car.
Nice work man.

Haha, I get you guys. I'm super anxious myself to start the modding!
Trying to order the coils this month or early next month. Need to get some crap sorted first.
Also think wheels won't be 20s as originally planned but rather 10x19s all around.

Hey man, congrats on the 7. Definitely been digging the e38s for a long time, it will be my next buy after I get my e28 ready für TÜV and stuff. Subbed! Hows the engine in the 7 Series? I'm driving an e39 530i as a daily and I'm wondering how it feels in a car even heavier than my 1,8t 530.
Looks like I'm gonny pay Köln an extra visit in the next couple of weeks. Ich schreib dir noch mal ne PN aber momentan macht mir die Arbeit einen Strich durch die Rechnung.

Klar, meld dich einfach!
The engine... well, it's not a race car by any means, but it's enough to get the 7 moving comfortably. Suits it quite well, imho.
