  • Will they even fit?

Hi guys, not so much of a build thread mainly after advice first. This car is meant to be my standard daily but picked up a set of wheels super cheap so going to attempt to make them fit.

Car is a BH5 Subaru Legacy. Its on coil overs. Wheels I bought are 18x9 +15 all round.

Those familiar with these cars will know the wheel arches are not large.. and these cars tend to have much higher offset wheels. Factory wheels are +55.

    the car

    test fitting

Problem is camber is not adjustable in the rear from factory and I have not been able to find camber kits for this model. Has anybody worked on these before? I have searched and searched but nothing has shown up.

would like to get these to work but as you can see they poke a fair bit. Should be interesting.

Comments welcome whether good or bad.

I do on the front. not on the rears though unfortunately.. I have read on another forum that a camber kit designed for the next generation legacy fits. Will be looking into it.

I did think about getting outback flares as the front guards swap straight on but would be a bit of bodywork in the rear. Going to see how much I can pull the rear first.

well if you loosen those front bolts and shift them towards the engine, that should give you some good negative camber in the front, and with some stretch you can make them fit nice

Check out the forums on NASIOC for rear suspension mod tips.

                Thanks cpt. obvious.

First dump it on the ground to see how much natural camber you get. Look into camber shims and/or bolts for the front. Take measurements and see if it matches up to other subies if you can't find any for the car.

Same thing for the rear. Take measurements and try to find arms that will work. For example I use all s14 arms with washers on my y33.

If none of that works give the fenders a roll and light pull with 215/35s or 205/40s. It should look reallll sick if you do it right.

^ It's AWD, and IIRC, he'll need longer axles (STi) if he goes with longer rear LCAs. There may be a way around that.

I am searching through other forums and should be able to get a camber kit from the next gen legacy. Nobody seems to do this shape unfortunately. Hoping to get enough camber from my top hats for the front.

Sigh....Gonna have to explain this, huh...

                        Subaru's don't gain natural camber.
You don't need longer axles. Only in cases of EXTREME lowness will your axles start to shake (ask me how I found that out) and you probably won't get there just yet.

Okay, rear camber bolts. You are from New Zealand. Find a place on ebay that ships there or find somewhere to get them. They're not expensive, maybe $40 a pair.
You want at least a pair. Ebay brand is fine, it's just a lobed bolt, and a nut.
Get another pair for the front if you want more camber up front.
If you STILL need more camber in the rear, you're gonna have to order rear camber plates.
Most anything from an Impreza/WRX will fit on your car with little modification. Don't quote me on that. NASIOC and google are your best friend.

Pull your fenders, get a 215/35 or 205/40 like Ollie said.

Camber plates won't work on this model as they changed to a multi link suspension set up. That's why wrx coil overs won't for into this shape legacy. I will try the camber bolts as that is nice and cheap. Definitely pulling fenders and stretching tyres.

At the moment it has -2 degrees in the rear. From lowering. Is that not natural camber?

That is natural camber. I'm a dumbass and totally forgot Legcays have multi-link in the rear.
                            Facepalming myself.

Do you have a picture of your Rear suspension? Might need LCA's as opposed to camber bolts like the newer STI's and legacys.

No worries dude! I don't have photos but there are plenty online. I'm pretty sure I do need LCAs. Why don't they make it easier!!! Or cheaper. I'm looking forward to this I'm sure ill learn some things!
