Thanks for the positive feedback everyone! It was a little bit of a busy week so we didnt get too much done.

-Finished off the brake lines
-Installed clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing etc.
-Mounted Transmission (Had to drill/install new trans mounts)
-Installed driveshaft
-Slave cylinder
-Shift plate with short shift kit installed (Had to drill new holes for that also)











We almost have the brake system completely sealed up, after that we have to start with wiring only thing that needs to be added is the electric fan and electric fuel pump.

After that we just have extra bolt ons, blah blah blah you know.

Hopefully get it started within the next couple weeks!

Thank you, and yeah I agree on the wheel choice, he of course couldn't run the original wheels with the larger brakes, but this customer did not want to spend so much on wheels. He's not worrying about aesthetics as much. (Which I can respect) Either way it's not my car, I know it's a cheaper alternative to some gorgeous bbs' but it is what it is. I think it'll still look alright! ha

Alright so we're getting a lot closer to driving this thing out of the shop.

-The brakes are done
-Alternator, starter, electric fan, a few other things all mounted
-Cooling system and radiator mounted (minus one heater hose in the back)
-Carbs are on, we have the dual cable throttle system all installed but now it seems we are going to go with a rod style, due to clearance issues.
-Wiring is pretty much done, just need to finish relocating the battery and we still havent received our fuel pump.
-the ignition coil, distributor, and wires are all on
-And i got the valves adjusted (.15 a little loose, chances are we will re adjust them after a few miles anyways)

She's such a beautiful car, but I am getting so sick of looking at it on our lift! I can't wait to see her sitting in the front of our shop.


Got the H4 headlights wired up

We mounted up the throttle and cables, but the new levers are knocking hard on the shortened intake that we have from Ireland Engineering, so we are going to go with their rod style throttle instead, but this is what it looks like at the moment.


Got the IE radiator mounted up, with the electric fan infront of it, all of the silicone hoses are on, I think the blue is a nice accent to the whole engine.


This is how the engine looks right now, the valve cover is just primed right now, we will be painting it but its just kind of on the bottom of my priority list haha


We need to make a trip over to IE to pick up some more parts i.e. fuel pump, velocity stacks, rod style throttle, fuel pump block off plate...

I'm really really hoping to fire up the engine this week, and the plan is to have it driving on the street by April 1st, so we have a few weeks to test drive it before Bimmerfest!

There's going to be a few more things added to the engine, but more or less that is how its going to look, our plan was to keep it very clean and neat and hopefully that's how itll turn out! So far I think we are on track.

Very nice car, kinda with Mike on the wheels bit but like you said, customers car not ours lol. On the tranny, did it fit in without modification of the hump? I ask as we have an extra 5spd laying around from an e21 and have been tempted to toss it in our 72 2002.

We haven't done any modifications to the tunnel, now it is a little bit of a tight fit i.e. the slave cylinder is rubbing just a tad, but other then that it hasn't been any trouble.

We also had to make new transmission mounts of course due to the longer body.

We have power We also got good oil pressure and compression, so thats a sigh of relief haha only problem we had was when it finally fired, it kind of burst the seal on the oil filter, spilled out everywhere.

I have to make another trip to Ireland Engineering to get a few more things:
-Fuel Pump
-Down Pipe
-Velocity Stacks
-Fuel pump block-off plate on the head

Anddddd we have to rebuild the webers..
Can't wait to drive this fucker!!

Sorry it's been a few weeks, time for updates! SInce Bimmerfest is in like a week

Finally made a trip up to Ireland Engineering, Thanks to Andrew and Jeremy there, they helped us a shitload! With some questions I had and getting some random parts to complete this thing.

So after blowing the seal on half a million oil filters I realized that the oil pressure was wayyyyy too high, after talking to jeremy he informed us that there was a 99.9% chance that we had the oil pressure release valve backwards in the oil pump. So I dropped the oil pan and yanked out the oil pump and fixed it.


Just so no one else makes this stupid mistake I'll show you which way it should go on haha
This is the correct way, the long rod should be sticking way out the bottom side of the pump, this might seem ass backwards and thats why its a very common mistake (or so I've been told lol)

Other then that we havent had any problems really. I got the exhaust mounted up and I can't wait to hear it




Also installed the new Carter Fuel Pump so we can get a reliable feed of fuel.


..had the weber carbs rebuilt, re-installed, and got the velocity stacks. The plan on the stacks is to have them powder coated the same color blue as the radiator hoses and such.

And mounted up the new 'rod style' Throttle linkage, sadly I lost the original throttle cable so I am fabbing a bracket to connect the linkage to the cable, or I'll just end up running down to the motorcycle shop for a universal one.



And finally this is how the car is looking right now, hopefully after bleeding the brakes and clutch and breaking in the engine i.e timing, re-torque head gasket, valve adjusment.. Ill be driving it this weekend!

Wheels are the ESM model 15x8s front and rear, 205/55 R15 front and rear, but they kind of look a little funky imo, so we are going to swap the tires for something a little narrower, and thinner. we have 205/40 off an e30 we might try also.
