  • Just Another 2002 Build..

I've been lurking on this forum for too long now. I work for a small independent german car shop. I thought I'd show you guys one of our projects we are getting ready for Bimmerfest!

Parts List (I might miss a few things since this is off the top of my head)

    Engine- The original M10

    - Schrick 292 Camshaft
    -Stainless Steel Exhaust/Intake Valves (Oversized)
    -Cast Pistons (90mm) 9.5:1
*We tried some other pistons that would bump compression up to 10:1 but they were really bad quality. We ended up getting a set from Ireland Engineering. Good quality stuff!
    -IE engineering sidedraft intake manifold
    -Shorty Header
    -Lightened Flywheel
    -Polyurethane Motor Mounts
    -Dual 40DCOE Weber Carburetors
    - Silicone Hose Kit

    -Bilstein HD Shocks
    -Urethane Bushing Kit
    -Urethane Steering Coupler
    -ESM 002R 15x8 Front and Rear et15

    -5 Speed Getrag Transmission

I'll keep posting as the build goes on. Hoping to get the engine mounted this week, just having a few issues with the mounts and fitment!

I've got a whole list of things to still on my tool box, hopefully it'll all be done for bimmerfest!

Thanks to the guys at Ireland Engineering, Sean @ Audibahn, Bavarian Auto Recycling..

..and to the customer who is funding this whole project and letting us build/drive/show it off

Thanks for all the good vibes!

Today I sandblasted some more parts for the engine, everything should be done. I plan on fitting the engine in this weekend.

We also test fit the 5 speed transmission

Andddd I had to re-flare some of the brake lines, but I think we are finally leak free!

Alright, well I got the motor in last night, it's all bolted down pretty much, I havent seen the engine inside this car for a year now so it's pretty sweet to see it back in! ha

I'm still looking for some misc. bolt-ons for the block like the updated alternator bracket, since we are using one off of an e30 318i.

Next we'll be able to bolt in the trans real quick to get some measurements on where the new transmission mounts need to be bolted on.

I still need to slide in that little stopper bracket under the motor mount. I just need to find it in our huge box o' parts
