Not as clean as I'd like! But it'll get there eventually!

Very nice to see you looking at all the details of this build. Most s13s in my area are pretty hacked together so this is refreshing to follow

Most of them are just bought then boosted to high heaven, engine blown up and crashed. Not this one, it's getting the full treatment

Gave the poor thing a wash, could barely see out of the side windows any more..

          No polish though

Stuck her up on my 'ramps'

And got underneath to have a fiddle around. Turns out I got another quarter turn on the subframe bolts with a normal spanner, so need to get a long arm on there and give them a good tightening. This has toned down the knocking when setting off quite a lot, so I think as soon as I've tightened them up with a long arm that should be gone, along with giving the diff mount bolts a quarter turn as well.

Looks like there's a little slop in the diff, about 3mm I'd say when turning the prop/drive-shafts and then a little play between the diff and drive-shaft through the CV joints either side maybe 1mm ish, so not as much as I thought there was going to be. Doesn't seem to be any play in the prop joints, so I think my vibration is down to needing to torque the gearbox mounting bolts up and replace the one bolt that disappeared, I think that'd make a big difference. I'd have done them up today but my 17mm socket seems to have gone amiss!

Always tighten your nuts people :ghey:

Did a little bit over the weekend

Went to swap out the exhaust for the one from Jonny, had it all off and offered the new one up, but its 4 inches too long so everything doesn't line up. Possibly due to the length of my downpipe/de-cat pipe, so what I'll do is when I have access to my welder is cut a section off and fit a flexi and shorten it at one end, but of hassle but never mind will only take a day for me to sort it out.

Picked up a battery relocation kit off a mate (one with the beamer) so that'll be handy so I can move the battery and sort out my water bottle filler neck again and de-clutter the bay a little.

Also added more cambers for cool points, but I'm going to put on a little more as it still just catches the front arches
Tightened up all the bolts underneath and the vibration at 3k is still there, so not entirely sure what it is, might be that the clutch plate isn't aligned properly which is a ball ache, and don't fancy sorting that but I cant see it being much else now.. unless its just because the diffs poo'd itself into being a single wheel spinner..

Its a weird rumble noise that then vibrates through the chassis, I've read lightened fly's do sometimes cause this but it feels a bit more mental than what I'd consider to be 'normal' anyone got any ideas?

Only when in gear, its slightly there when accelerating through that range but very slight, not there at all in neutral, is fine when revved and held in the vibrations rpm range, just coasting in any gear coming down between 3000 and 2500. Other than that it drives perfect and seems normal. I do have a small chunk out of my crank pulley, but i'd have thought it i was to feel that it would be any time not just in gear yes?

                      Ideas people?

Unexpectedly had the afternoon off uni, and having reminded myself that I've owned a quick release since christmas it might be an idea to give fitting it a go. I also sorted out two of the LEDs in the dash cluster above the petrol light and the battery light out that decided to stop working and the clock bulb that's been flickering enough to induce an epileptic fit.

                      Bulbs sorted

QR on, does mean the horn button doesn't sit flat, but I'll address that another time

Did a few bits today, sorted my passenger wiper pivot out. Took apart the better parts out of the two from Jonny and put them together to make one passenger pivot. Sanded the pivot stalk smooth and re-greased and put the newer plastic triangle part on. Now moving super smooth, re-greased all the little ball joints. Will need to replace the divers side one, but there's play in all of the parts I have left so will find another good one sometime soon.

This is what the worst one looked like from Jonny

Put on another sunstrip, this time a gloss one but put on with a heat gun, so hopefully it wont come off again down the motorway!

Sorted also a small grinding noise coming from the rear, re-greased and sorted the rear alignment arms. Also put a little more gearbox oil in too. So new pics!
