  • My 66 Beetle $hit Box........

So i picked this up not to long ago from my brother who has owned the car for the past 5 or so years......

    1966 Beetle
    1600dp
    Freeway Flyer
    6in KCW Beam
    KCW bump steer kit
    cb spindles
    Flipped tie rods
Down 1.5 splines in the rear w/ notched spring plates
    Roof Rack
    Empi 5 ribs with 135's and 165's
    Rad 70's diamond pleat interior
Stripped to bare metal w/ clear over it

These are photos from how it was when i got it
In these photos the botom adjuster is out

So my first winter project (i thought) was going to be take out the front suspension and detail it..........well my detail project turned into a fab project and this is what i ended up with....

So the front is done, and i was going to leave it as that, and just lower the rear another spline, that went out the window when i got a good deal on 2 more bags so i bagged the rear also. I made my own set up, but it is very similar to the Airkewld kit. I dont have any pictures of the setup its self yet, but i should get some tonight. Now i just need to get some real air management........

This is all the way down right now, the rear will go another inch once i notch the spring plates some more tonight...

Very cool build. Props to you for building the front setup yourself.

This is sweet, I really like the metal/clear coat look. I may go for that on my squareback.

This past weekend I had some free time, and was bored. I still wasnt happy with how the front end sat, so i decided to go up to the shop, and figure out a way to get moar low! My fix was to pie cut the pan head...............

so now it tucks wheel in the front, and the tires are maxed out on the fenders, so the only thing to do now is get smaller tires
