  • Camaro SS build

Well to start off this build is going to be slow. I bought the car in February and planned on slamming it but to my surprise there are no suspension parts to make this body style low. It's a 2001 Camaro SS, 6 speed, 53k miles.

So I put on Eibach Sportline springs and even cut a coil off of them and it still didn't get very low. These are the lowest setting springs made for this vehicle, even lower than any coilover setups.

I had a set of Varrstoen V1's in 18x9.5 and 18x10.5 on the car, but ***** the wheel gap so sold them.

So naturally the next step is air ride. RideTech makes a completely bolt in system for my car, and seem to be the only company that does so.

    Current mods:
    Longtube Headers
    Off road Y pipe
    Borla Exhaust
    Hurst short shifter
BMR Stage 2 suspension package (struts/shocks, frame braces, strut brace, swaybars, etc.)
    All audio redone

    Future mods:
    Air ride
Get rid of that yacht steering wheel
    New custom shift knob
Some sort of seats(put Bride Digo's in my last mustang)
Put on my Ronal Gotti G1001's 17x11 and 17x9.5

And now some pictures with varrstoens:

Here's one of how the car sits now and the interior:

And one of my wheels sitting in the corner of my room:

Let me know your opinions and suggestions. I had also thought about keeping the stock 10 spokes as many people like them and powdercoating them a metallic gunmetal, spacing them out for an oem+ look. Also debating on powdercoating the Gotti's black with gold hardware.

Following this. I wanna stance my 3rd gen, but haven't a clue where to start other than springs. Since the 4th gens are pretty much 3rds underneath what you do should be helpful to me.

    Can't wait to see more!

Those stockers flow a lot better than the varrstoens. But looking forward to the progress

They are 17x11 et36 and 17x9.5 et56. And if I don't like the gottis I will probably sell them and go the other route with the stockers. By the end of the month I hope to order the air ride setup

I personally favor the Varrstoens. But the stockers are always a good choice.

I wouldn't powder coat the gotti's. They look nice as they sit, and blacking stuff out always makes it look cheap.

I don't believe so, all of the coilovers made for the car are not for handling/performance except for the KW set, which run about the same price as a nice air ride kit. They are all engineered for drag racing. Which I feel is pretty ridiculous.

And thanks for the remarks on the gotti's, I wasn't sure about the black/gold but I've seen it look nice on some sets of BBS'.

Look into Pontiac Solstice coilovers for the front. They're short and have the same lower mounting style as yours do. As for the rear, it's just a solid axle so you can just get the length spring you need an shorter shocks.

I've always liked how the outside of these look, I just **** the interiors. And get a cam for that engine, it will do wonders.
