Small update, next on the list will be fixing the damn 5m, been reading up a bit on the engine and I now think it may just be the head gasket thats blown out between cyl 5 & 6, alot of the valve slapping has disappeared, also the engine now idles

Obviously though it needs an entire new gasket kit, there is oil everywhere I look.

So yeah, parking up the car, pulling the engine, and givin' it some love!

And I recently found a sweet conversion guide, super helpful, now just have to save up and decide on which motor.
I found this write up whilst searching for other info and thought that it has a place on these forums as alot of the info contained is applicable to other conversions. (eg. Which bellhousing to use for which engine/gearbox combination) Enjoy. ENGINES 6MGE bolts up, wires up, no effort required worthy if you can get one cheap.

I was thinking a 1UZ swap, less maintenance AFAIK
But a 1j is my other option

Have you got a build thread, would love to see what everyone else has been doing with cressi's

1uz are dirt cheap and great bang for the buck ratio..i just dont have the fab skills to build an exhaust mani that goes around the steering column..and the 2jzge i can totally do and i got a hell of a deal..

          and yeah i do mang.

Post your build threads here! Keep us updated on what you're doing in your garage.

Because the roof and bonnet needs a respray I was thinking of doing something similar to this to cut out having to match paint, which I despise doing.
Instead of these colours replace the silver with blue and the maroon with black, yes or no?
Should I just suck it up and match paint the best I can?

Don't do blue, I like the way the silver and maroon go with that car, makes it look classy.

I'd suggest respray stock color, that blue is nice. Or I'd suggest to get someone good to give it a nice black paint job with a perfect mirror shine to it. Then dress it up with some chrome. Super classy

Guys guys guys... I'm not made of money, plus the prep work involved in a full body respray the proper way is going to be long and annoying. I've sprayed full cars before. Only reason I'm considering the two tone is to save having to match metallic paint, which if anyone has done before, is always always wrong.

Bit of an update, sorry I've been lazy, some of you guys have sub'd so I'll make an effort.
Stripped down the engine and it has turned out to just be a busted HG between cylinders 5 and 6, which has worn a nice little gab between the two, so my mechanic mate is acid dipping and shaving the head for me sometime in the next week. I've bought a fresh gasket set just waiting for it to arrive from the US. Saving some cash for arp head studs.

I also ditched those gold rims and swapped for a set of Black Racing Pro-03's, from what I heard a decent rim from Japan, the "Rota's of Japan" I've been told aswell. They look ok, I'll make sure to get some pics and specs soon.

I'm also in the process of making some wide steel rims for it. Have found 8inch wide, 17inch 4x4 rims, which have a 14inch stepdown in them, so I'll be finding a 4x114.3 center to fit and seam welding it in with some decent offset and lip, unsure as to what colour to spray them yet.

I've also decided to do a closed door respray on the x7, but in a different shade of blue, going for a darker colour, should still suit the car though.

And that brings us up to speed, I'll post some pics sometime this week, looking forward to being a bit more active on this forum

                            EDIT:
I'm also now considering buying some universal 240z style fenders flares and spacing the new rims out all the way :P

Found a nice website in Poland offering some decent abs plastic bolt on fender flares, going 2 inch wider.
